"The sorry excuse of Academic Advisors have the inability to understand what a morale compass is. Witnessed them instantly trash another students name the second they walked out. They lack empathy and believe an advanced vocabulary constitutes a hierarchy. In as much, a way to intimidate. I usually just mind my business and appreciate everyone around me. I read reviews a lot and don’t normally comment ever, but the Academic Advisors have serious issues. “The Lord shall smite thee with madness, and blindness, and astonishment of heart.”"

"Like many Institution of Higher Education, PHCC North Campus offers a broad base of mainly two-year degrees such as the A.A. and the A.S. Unfortunately in recent years their two year programs have not kept up with what employers in the area are interested in hiring for. As a long time resident of Brooksville and the Tampa area, Pasco Hernando Community College is out of touch and rapidly falling behind. Almost none of their programs are geared towards people with jobs, as many if not all of their classes fall between the hours of 8a and 5pm. Also, many of their programs are now Certification Programs which do not meet the criteria for financial aid and require thousands of dollars in out of pocket money. PHCC made the choice to gear their degree programs towards high school graduates, typically through their AA and AS programs, but because their two year programs are so generalized, these degrees will not help graduates find a job in either the local or national market. Unlike USF and the 4 year colleges, PHCCs degree programs are mostly non-specific and do not generally provide graduates with any real-world skills. What PHCC will do is provide a strong-foundation for transfer to another 4 year institution, but is that good enough? Institutions of higher learning should be held to a higher standard and if a degree does not confer any real-world marketable skills, it should be altered until it does. The sad truth is that employers in the local Brooksville and more broad Tampa area do not hold a generally positive outlook on degree holders from PHCC, especially in comparison to any of the more prestigious private and public universities in the area. In Summary: PHCC should be used as a stepping stone to other 4-year institutions, but otherwise should be avoided. As a graduate and employer in the local area I will continue to monitor PHCCs progress to see if their disposition changes, but currently they view their students as disposable assets to wring money out in exchange for no real-world skills."
