"My tenure at West 10 Apartments has been marked by an array of issues that have turned what should be a comfortable living space into an absolute nightmare. Right from the beginning, I found myself entangled in a disheartening back-and-forth with Makenzie, the leasing agent, over the importance of a broken dryer. Little did I know, this was just the tip of the iceberg. Upon moving in, my apartment presented a laundry list of problems including a dirty room, holes in the walls, bugs in the crevices, mildewed grout, a broken front door, and a broken wax seal that allowed my floor to succumb to mold. The dire condition of my living space was alarming, but what followed was even more frustrating – a lackadaisical response from the maintenance team. In January, after returning to my apartment following a brief absence, I discovered a stained ceiling stretching from one end of my bathroom to the other. I promptly filed a maintenance order, receiving a nonchalant response stating the ceiling was dry and had been painted over the stain, with no effort to investigate the root cause. A week later, mold began to reappear along my ceiling, leading to another maintenance request. The response was a superficial cleaning, but the issue persisted. To add insult to injury, before I could file a follow-up report, my bathroom flooded the next morning, resulting in ruined belongings with no offer of replacement or compensation. Upon contacting maintenance, they did respond promptly, for it to be during closed hours. The mold was cleaned, and the flooding issue was addressed, but the realization that these problems could have been prevented if the initial maintenance requests had been taken seriously was disheartening. Throughout this ordeal, Megan from management has been less than helpful. Instead of acknowledging the gravity of the situation, I felt blamed and dismissed. It's evident that the management does not prioritize the well-being and satisfaction of its tenants. My living conditions have been mishandled, and I am completely disgusted with the entire experience. I cannot, in good conscience, give West 10 Apartments anything more than 0 stars. This has been a truly disappointing and frustrating experience."
"West10 does not care about the safety of their residents. I received a new, extremely aggressive and disruptive roommate in 2023. I informed West10 of the constant disrespect that she was giving me and my other roommate. She would constantly slam doors during early morning and late hours to mess with us and playing her music and sing extremely loud during sleeping hours out of spite. She would bring tons of her friends who were men in and out of our apartment without communicating with us which made my roommate and I very uncomfortable as we are straight women and she is a masculine lesbian female . She would turn the heater on 85 and 90 degrees before she left out of spite to leave my roommate and I burning up. She would let people stay for as long as 2 weeks at time without notice, increasing our utility bill. She has also threatened me. My roommate and I both informed West10 of all of this information and they said there was nothing they can do about it. I tried contacting the office manager, April, via email. She responded once saying there was nothing she could do. I replied and never got a response. I tried to go to the office in person and she sent another staff, Nicole, to speak to me as she hid in her office to avoid me. Nicole told me there was nothing she could do and I would need to contact the police if anything and come back and let them know what the police said. I had a family lawyer read over the lease agreement. She told me that West10 formed the lease agreement to where they are not responsible for anything that happens to you. As long as all of their units are filled to obtain maximum payment, they could care less about the safety of their residents."
"As a resident of west 10 me and my roommates have reported numerous of time to management, security and police about the outrageous noise of our upstairs neighbors. West 10 has done little to nothing to rectify the situation. When we have guest over they complain and are truly concerned with how bad the noise is. The security company does not do their job and actually visit and file the noise complaint once reported. Overall very lackadaisical management and attention to problems. I would not recommend living here as it is very hard to get a peaceful sleep or existence."
"West 10 does an awful job of matching roommates and they put their tenants in unsafe situations. This is my daughter’s first time living off campus. One roommate has already moved to another apartment because she had problems with two of the roommates. Two of the roommates would constantly adjust the thermostat to be higher than 75 degrees in August in Tallahassee. My daughter and the roommate who moved out constantly complained. The management sent out an agreement that they must all agree to, but you can imagine how far that went. Then we went to visit family for Thanksgiving. We took our daughter back to her apartment to find one of the roommates momma, 2 sisters, and a dog in the apartment. They appeared to have been there for days and still in their pajamas with trash bags of clothes in the common area. Now I know it’s the holiday, but why would you have family visit for days at an apartment that you share with two other roommates. I would even understand one sister or just your mother in your room. They are taking up the common area with all their belongings. Oh, I forgot to mentioned, it smelled of marijuana when we entered. I don’t recommend staying in these apartments unless you already have your roommates picked out. They want to charge you for changing apartments, but they don’t do a good job of enforcing the rules and making everyone feel safe."
"My experience at West 10 Apartments has been far from satisfactory. When I first arrived at the apartment that I was supposed to move into, I was greeted by an overpowering odor of marijuana. Instead of addressing the issue and holding the responsible roommate accountable, the management decided to move me to a different unit - from a 3x3 to a 4x4. In this new apartment, I was promised that my roommates would be "super sweet." Unfortunately, this couldn't have been further from the truth. Two of my roommates were not only unpleasant but also almost 25 years old and weren't even a student at the nearest universities or colleges which created a significant mismatch in lifestyles and preferences. The situation was exacerbated by the fact that these roommates attempted to take control of the apartment, often disregarding shared spaces and amenities as if they owned the place and would often cause drama between me and another roommate who were close in age. Despite numerous reports I submitted to the management office about these issues, they consistently failed to take appropriate action and rarely responded to my emails. The only solution they offered was to move me to yet another room, rather than addressing the problematic behavior of my roommates. Furthermore, the condition of the rooms did not remotely resemble what was shown during the initial tour. It was disappointing to discover that the apartment was far from the promised standards, and the overall cleanliness was questionable. My experience at West 10 Apartments was marked by disappointments, unfulfilled promises, uncooperative roommates, and a lack of effective communication and resolution from the management. This experience was marred by several issues that should have been managed more professionally and transparently."
