"I lived at the Cottages for 2 years and never had any problems until move out, when getting my security deposit back. I received the check in the mail almost 3 weeks ago. I deposited it into my account and 4 days later I received an email saying it had bounced and was being returned. I understand things like this happen. So I emailed the property manager Thursday 8/10 and let her know what was going on. She told me she would see what was going on, but never followed up. I texted again on Monday 8/14 and she let me know that mailed me another check.I live locally so I was expecting so receive the check by the middle of the week. The check never came. I texted the property manager on Friday 8/18 and never heard anything back so I called the office just to not be able to reach anyone that could help me. Finally Monday 8/21 I got a text message from the property manager telling me that the check was never sent out and it was being held for me at the office and I could either come pick it up or they could THEN mail it out. This has been the biggest inconvenience trying to collect my own money. I questioned the lady at the office as why to I was lied to about the check being mailed out and she had no idea. These people think since they are dealing with college students they can give us the run around. If they handle someone’s money this way no telling what else they will try and do."
"*AVOID AT ALL COSTS* The apartment complex and unit itself looked very lively and comfortable when I toured, but that was probably the only positive to the experience my roommates and I had experienced with the Cottages. I had been planning to move into this complex this upcoming Fall, and everything started off great. I reached out to inquire about a tour and the response was quick so I was able to receive a tour the next day. The tour was nice, and the leasing agent was able to answer most of the questions we had asked about the complex and unit itself. However, when trying to get in contact with the leasing manager/agent I basically had to force a response out of them to get any type of update or information once I had begun the application process and paid the $50 application fee. It was like pulling teeth trying to make sure that all of the parental guarantor and co-ed unit forms were sent out to the correct email addresses, and I was pretty surprised when we were not CC’d in the emails being sent to our parents because we were not made aware of when exactly these forms were sent out, I was only made aware that the person was “working on” them. After I had not not received a response back from the leasing agent for over two weeks, my roommate inquired about some form of update and was told that the unit had already been filled. If the communication between management and residents is this dreadful prior to moving in, I can’t imagine what I would have had to go through had I been able to move in. It honestly feels like I dodged a bullet losing the unit."
"I have got to say I’m extremely impressed on the development of this place. Started off a little rocky with the communication with my property manager, but once Caitlin Whittaker, the new property manager, took over things changed for the best. She stays in constant communication and is very reliable. I locked my keys in my room and instead of breaking in, I called her and she was on the scene in minutes! Great place, great community, and a great manager."
"I have lived in three different housing units while at UWG and The Cottages, by far, are the best. These units are clean and new. The kitchen is spacious, with new appliances. I also loved being so close to the school. I could walk to UWG and run on The Greenbelt. The property manager is easy to contact when you need something. My roommates and I lived in a six bedroom this year. We never had a single problem the entire year. Overall, it's a great place to live."
"Britt James saved me on several occasions. From finding me an apartment last minute to tirelessly letting me in when I locked myself out. My college career was significantly improved by having a safe and beautiful place to live. I highly recommend contacting Britt if you ever need a home."
