"Let’s just say I walked in wanting a wolf cut and walked out wanting a wig. It’s just hair. It’s not the end of the world. But this is going to be a spiritual journey of regaining my confidence. Maybe I should be grateful that they stripped away the conventional beauty standards I always found fairly cushiony and taught me ✨true beauty✨ frankly I’d rather still have my hair and perhaps be a little vain. I came in with the two reference photos attached. I had shoulder length hair that I wanted cut into a wolf cut somewhere between the two photos shown. The back of my head was previously shaved and only had about an inch of growth which I understood AFTERWARDS presented a bit of a challenge but if they didn’t think they could do it I wish they would have just told me instead of chopping my hair so short and giving me what one may describe as a “lesbian vegan soccer mom” style. The student stylist understood the assignment and was doing great (absolutely none of this was her fault). Until about halfway through the cut when one of the teachers, Mandy, took over and completely ruined the vision we had created. She cut my hair way too short. Asked how I wanted my bangs and then did something different, overall I don’t think she even took the time to understand what I wanted and instead just cut MY hair how SHE wanted. The color is wrong too as I wanted burgundy and got a very strong red but it feels like the least of my concerns when I have a haircut that in itself is perfectly fine but does not fit me once so ever. I couldn’t tell her in person because I was afraid saying how much I hated it would bring on the tears and I want to say I’m above crying over temporary looks but now that it’s set in that I’m stuck being embarrassed by my hair, which has always been a huge part of my style, for months it’s a little harder to be so nonchalant about it."
"The student did an excellent job on my roommates hair, however… the “teacher” COMPLETELY ruined it. my roommate still wanted her hair to be semi long, yet the teacher decided, let’s cut it all off and give her color that she didn’t ask for. will NEVER come here again. Nor will i recommend this place to ANYONE. what a shame."
"After getting my hair done by a really nice stylist, The manager on the floor approached me and said that I would have to be charged and extra 5 dollar fee for not making them aware that I have a ''Different Type Of Hair Texture''..I thought she was kidding at first but she was not!! I then asked her what Texture she was referring to and she said 'Umm Curly''!! I'm mixed so I guess she meant Half Black Hair Texture!!"
"RUN! It’s a CONNIVING Scam, MISLEADING, and IMMORAL. The pregnant receptionist is very rude and unprofessional. She was VERY NASTY to the students and ROLL HER EYES and POP HER NECK at the customers. Ashley, the lead teacher with a gash on her face is FAKE and MESSY. Kara the receptionist is a ROCKHEAD and oblivious. They change the price 3 times. They failed to inform of multiple things and you don’t get what you ask for. I wasted my time and money and the master students are worse then the foundation students. I feel bad for the students. They have to take out a $14,000 loan just to get played with and not be taken seriously. THEY DO NOT CATER TO AFRICAN AMERICAN HAIR! THEY DO NOT HAVE THE CLIENTS OR STUDENTS BEST INTEREST! You come out better going to an actual salon and paying for what you initially wanted!"
"My Husband and I came here for a facial, massage, and pedicure...and we were very pleased with our experience. :) The girls in massage were amazing, and very talented. The girl that did my facial was great! It was very first time doing a facial, and she did a wonderful job. Aveda does a great job at training their students, I was very pleased. I love all the natural products, and the feeling inside of the Institute. We will definitely be returning, and I highly recommend this place to others. Why pay a ton for a professional massage, when you can help students out...and get work done that's just as good as a Pro? Win - Win."
