"Country French. Hearty and delicious. I'm glad I came back, I haven't been here in many years and this was a great reminder of the small French restaurants that I visited in Europe. My wife had the cassoulet, which is a hearty stew-like dish. It has a leg of duck and some sausage over a bed of beans. The leg of duck was tender and flavorful. The beans were deliciously seasoned. The sausage really stood out. It was juicy with a nice spice something like an Italian sausage. It was a good mix of rich flavors. I had the breast of duck. It was not the fork tender piece of meat that the leg was. Instead, it has a stronger flavor, and is a bit gamey. If you like that robust version of duck, this is your meal. Normally, it is served with spaetzle, but I can't have that. I thought for sure that they would have fries, after all it is a French restaurant. They did not. Instead I had green beans (l'aricot verte). They were tender and delicious. The whole meal was smothered in a delicious wine sauce. We went with another couple, who were also very complimentary of their meals. Again, this is about the small country French restaurant experience, and not to the genteel sort of thing with spacious dining and more formal service. Instead, an older French woman and a couple of young gals scooted around the crowded room. The service was attentive and comforting. This is a good choice for less formal French dining. Also, it's worth noting that they don't serve cocktails, just beer and wine."
"I am so upset I didn't discover this little gem earlier. From the authentic French bistro ambience to the incredible food, Cafe Alsace is highly recommended! Almost everything we tried ranged from very good to amazing: escargot, onion pie, chicken pate, beef wellington (heavenly!), magret de canard (shown in the photo), seafood soup... Yum! I'd said only the creme brulee was mediocre."
"Cafe Alsace was okay. We went with another couple. I got the trout which was okay because it was just warm. My hubby got the pork which was dry and overcooked. The other couple was okay with their dishes. The escargot was good. The cream brulee was not set properly, so I sent it back."
"What a beautiful little family-owned French cafe! I know where I'm stopping anytime I'm passing through the Decatur area of the Atlanta metro! The creme brulee with some of the best of had, and so is the chocolate mousse. Our family stopped in just for dessert. And we were not disappointed!! There is a charming atmosphere and even family pictures on the walls!! This place is truly a unique stop and you will not regret spending your money here! There is also EV parking (Tesla supercharger) within walking distance at a nearby parking deck."
