"I love this place. My dogs and I love the trail and the lake is beautiful. It is so refreshing walking in the woods and admiring the views. But make sure you have an extra plastic bag for dog waste. There's one at the entrance and that's the only one for a while. Now that fall is here, I can't wait to come back again."
"First, check out the pics I attached. They tell the story: A large park, with many good, nature-oriented amenities. There is also a large sizable with boat access, and an impressive veterans memorial including statues, a wall, and a walkway listing a plaque for each of the the enormous number of times our brave volunteer military has been called upon by the political class for some foreign military intervention...which is far more often than most people realize. Support Our Troops: Bring Them Home."
"Great park for a family hike - especially if you go around this time of year when the diamorpha is flowering on the granite outcroppings. The start of the trail is a steep climb, but the rest of the trail is relatively flat. The recent rains have washed out several sections of the trail."
"We found 3 docks to fish from, but not a lot of fishing spots on the shore. It was a little hot since we couldn't find a good spot with shade. Not my favorite fishing spot. $2 for county residents, $4 for non residents. Playground is nice."
"Nice staff at entrance. Well marked trail until you get up to the granite outcrop, paint markers are well faded. Trail kiosk needs to show an actual map of the trail. Hard to tell where it goes. It is an out and back with a couple of spurs from the carin, one down to the lake and the other out to the road. Currently the docks and boat launch are closed for repairs."
