"Constant leaks and wet carpet, laundry room and hallway flooded multiple times. Flakes would shake off the ceiling into food, front office did nothing and actually raised the rent. Termite infestation in the last month there were bugs all over the house in every room in the beds and all over the furniture. Leasing office again did nothing, wouldn’t prorate rent and ended up moving out early and they again refused to prorate the rent despite the apartment being infested and half of it unusable due to water. Terrible, terrible, terrible."
"We have been at the anchorage for 4 years now and it’s been great. It is an older apartment complex so you will have some issues but they are always on it! We are in a 2 bedroom but plan to just move over to a 3 bedroom! We had the most amazing “fix it guy” as my son calls him haha his name is Steve. He is now at the goose creek property and is so awesome! My only complaint is the landscape isn’t as well maintained as we would like but the grass is cut every week so can’t complain much!"
"My husband and I only had a few days to check out apartments in the area before heading back to Chicago. Prudence took us earlier than our scheduled time and showed us the model. She let us really take our time walking through the apartment and answer any questions we had. She was extremely polite and accommodating to our hurried schedule. We were able to get everything squared away in less than 24 hours. We were able to take our lease agreement over to the high school and register my daughter. I’m excited to move into our new place. We’ve had such great customer service already."
"Absolutely would never recommend this complex to any non smoker! Our apartment unit smells of smoke, both cigarette and marijuana, almost daily. It is absolutely sickening. We were not told that the complex was a smoking complex when we signed our lease, otherwise we never would have moved in. Further, our apartment unit was previously occupied by tenants that were known around the complex, by both the leasing office and other tenants, to have trashed the unit, so much so that they were evicted. However, management did not find it necessary to replace the carpet. So when we moved in we were welcomed with very large, very visible stains (some are 2 foot by 2 foot stains). The carpet also did not appear to have been cleaned, as promised by the leasing office. The leasing office did agree to send the cleaning company back out, and the gentleman who came out noted that he did not think the carpets had been cleaned previously either. Also, the floors squeak majorly all throughout the unit, which seems minor but becomes very annoying, very fast. We will be leaving as soon as our lease ends and never looking back, or recommending it to any of our friends."
"Having been a loyal tenant for years, it is time to finally speak out for myself and other residents who share the same dissatisfaction with this complex. I would not recommend anyone to choose Anchorage Apartments, especially if they are non-smokers or have children. The walls are so thin that I can smell smoke if a neighbor is smoking. I can hear almost clearly what they are yelling at another about. When neighbors are upstairs and walking or jumping, every creak is audible, and I often fear that the second floor may even collapse on me. I have often come home to find that chips of paint from the ceiling have fallen down, as the walls shake when someone upstairs jumps or runs. It is quite ridiculous, to be a non-smoker and feeling ill at the scent of smoke, to wake up in the middle of night unable to escape the cloud that seems to have seeped through the ceiling. The rent increases every year, and this past year the management has renovated the complex, involving months of men going in and out of the home almost every weekday. The residents were left to come home to find their belongings almost completely turned over, to do all the cleaning up of the wood shavings, mud tracks, moving furniture, etc. It was utterly ridiculous. Some of my items have disappeared, and often I would arrive home to find that the door was left unlocked. The management then had the nerve to use their renovations to justify the hefty increase in rent for the new lease. Instead of fixing the obvious issues, they focused on installing new appliances to attract new tenants at the cost of their current residents. Stay away or be very warned, and do not be fooled by the shiny new gadgets. The management clearly has no concern for the wellbeing or satisfaction of even their most loyal residents."
