"I look at reviews, past and present, to see if things have gotten better or worse. It seems to me that bad ownership and mismanagement play a big part in Pine Lakes demise. Will take our service members advice from 5 months ago and steer far away from Pine Lakes. Weren't there a lot of drug busts in that complex as well? Prices all over the area don't reflect the horrible environment they are in."
"If you enjoy maintenance and pest control knocking on your bedroom door at 8 am without notice or announcing themselves, then this place is for you. You have no privacy here. The first time when I had just moved in maintenance man knocks ONE time & before I even get to the door he is already trying to enter my apartment & used so much force he cracked the doorframe (I will include photos below). The second time “pest control” showed up & he did not knock or announce himself, luckily I was awake when he shows up at 7am sharp, he entered quietly & walked around my apartment before knocking on my bedroom door. I have never been so afraid in my life!! Thinking something terrible was about to happen he then announces his self saying he needs to “spray the bathroom” & I said no you can come back at another time and he left. This is just an unprofessional management who does not care who they hire to come into your home. Also mold grows on the vents in the bathroom and the carpet is very dirty before you even move in, I have severe allergic reactions living there due to the carpet, mold, & chipping paint. Not safe for you or your kids to live inside of."
"Apartment rooms, fixtures very outdate. Moved in and they didnt shampoo rug. Didnt notice til I got on floor and smelled it. Windows are paper thin so u hear everything. Biggest issue I have is parking. There needs to be 1 assigned space to every apt. No place to park unless u park on other side of complex on certain days. Also put in request for maintenance to fix rug coming up and kitchen draws falling out and hard to roll. Not fixed yet.. (1mos). Have neighbors that are smoking in from of main door and the smell every day, along with the cigarette butts everywhere. As a non smoker, it is disgusting to smell it in the common area, coming thru ur window on 1st floor, and looks dirty to see it... (Daughter has asthma) We'll see how the rest of the year works out. Well almost a year. Came back to edit this. Constantly have the office or maintenance entering apt without 24 HR notice. Maintenance let my door open and unlocked. Repairs never done. Constantly walking thru cigarette smoke. Refrigerator doesn't work and has notice. Everything reported nothing fixed.. Updated 2022: Did not want to renew lease even with paying on time. Not sure if it’s due to wanting to make more money off my apt bc I was last paying $942, the 4 times in 4 yrs my room has been flooded from lack of maintenance on A/C above us, the mold in bathroom or obscene amount of bugs. They never take accountability for things they cannot maintain. Nice ppl in the office but Don’t sign a lease til u see ur apt at this place. Pool has been closed more than open and no basketball court, no working firepit and barely working grill. This place is not worth over $1k - go elsewhere- other ppl will work with u too. The VP Liz Orr is a horrible person and her karma coming"
"I am a current resident but about to leave sadly. I lived here for a year and all I have to say is this place was great. The management team was amazing and always knew who I was. The maintenance was spot on. I would put in a request and two hours later was fixed. This is such a safe place to live with the police patrolling they have. They even helped with so much when my husband was gone with moving out. This is such a friendly environment to live in and very safe. If we are ever back in South Carolina I will definitely come back here!"
"I am a current resident here at Pine Lakes. I've only been here a little over a month, so I can't speak on what may happen down the road. So far, I really like living here. The ladies have been wonderful and super helpful, maintenance is great and gets things done in a timely manner, and they are usually on top of groundwork. The areas surrounding Pine lakes can get rough, but the Pine Lakes community itself is pretty safe. I can go in and out of my apartment at night, and I don't feel like I have to look over my shoulder all the time. The police patrols this area pretty regularly, so there is that. There are a few reasons why I did not give this place 5 stars, and it doesn't have to do with the people or anything. It has to do with the price and apartment itself. I expected the prices to go up since Charleston has boomed over the years (I was following my husband around since he was Active duty, so missed when a lot of these places were built), but I don't think these apartments are worth the price. It is on the cheaper end with places for rent around here, but it is outdated. I can tell where they tried to remodel (somewhat), but no way is this worth $900/month. The appliances, floors, etc were old and/or worn. I know it may not be feasible to tear this down and start over, but I believe this place would greatly benefit with an upgrade. Outside from this dated apartment, the people here make living here great, and if you are looking for a place that cares about residents, definitely give this place a try. Just be prepared that you may have a worn/outdated apartment. I can't speak on the townhomes because I have not seen the inside of one yet. If they upgrade all of the apartments, then this place would be a solid 5 in my books."
