Willow Lake Apartments 6834 Ward Avenue, North Charleston, SC 29406

"Lived at Willow Lake for a year, and it was really bad. Are you a single male that is looking to save money? You might be able to deal with it. Are you Military looking to save BAH? Consider embracing the awful conditions here to make a little extra and live close to base. Are you a single female? Buy a gun. My recommendation to anyone looking to rent here is don't cheap out; I know the low rent is tempting, but it is not worth it at all. The only way I would have stayed is if it was $400 (or less) a month, and my standards really aren’t that high. I was paying less than $900 and I still felt ripped off. Reasons for leaving: -Roaches, roaches, and more roaches. I killed at least one every single day. I’d find them where I kept my food, and they’d even get into the bathroom. They literally live in the walls and crawl out of the cracks. -Everything is just painted over at least 10 times and they don’t even try to do it right. The counter in the bathroom and kitchen has like a 1/4 inch of paint covering the wood and it chips off, cracks, stains, etc. Paint drippings all over the floor. Terribly done. -The A/C is just a rectangle hole that they cut in the wall to the outside and they stuck a window unit in it. There is no seal, and you can see straight to the outside in the cracks. No telling what got in through there. -The carpet was long overdue to be replaced, it’s disgusting. Also, it wasn’t even attached to the floor, I could’ve just lifted the entire carpet straight out of the house if I wanted to. -The laundry facility will ruin clothes often. Sometimes it’s the dryer not drying your clothes. Sometimes it’s the washer not draining causing your clothes to soak in filthy water. Sometimes, the machines don’t even complete the cycle. Also, the facility never gets cleaned. I brought my own supplies and did it myself one time because it was an extremely long time since it had been done. -Nobody here picks up their dog poop. They also let their dogs off the leash all the time. There are also strays everywhere, all the time. -The walls are paper thin. -460 square feet is really small. -Very shady neighborhood. -It constantly stinks no matter how much you clean it. -Parking lot usually full of litter. The staff is not that great either. My recommendation to the owners of willow lake would be to just tear these buildings down and build something new. I truly can’t think of a way to fix the building and conditions, I really just think it’s beyond repair. If you choose to move here, good luck."

"Just moved in so far seems nice, I don’t mind the airport next door and my neighbor seems very nice. So far it is very quite. It was a little dirty when I moved in but nothing I couldn’t clean up a bit! Moving was easy and the process was very smooth!"

"Vita has made the experience here so much better. She was very helpful, quick to respond, and super friendly. The apartment itself isn't the best. The bathroom was pretty ugly (tub paint chipping off, floors look dirty) there were weird stains on the kitchen wall (vita was quick to respond and sent someone over to have a look) everything is old and out dated. Kitchen drawers are all messed up. If it wasn't for Vita providing the customer service that she did I would have rated this 1 to 2 stars."

"Been living in these apartments for almost 1 year. It’s my first timing moving out and is a great starter place and is cheap. I don’t have any problems and the problem I did have they fixed it in a good amount of time. The o my problem are the windows are outdated so bugs are let in easily other than that everything is great!"

"Lived here 2.5 years just got emailed from management offering 25 $ gift cards for positive reviews. Only thing good about it is the price. Mailboxes are few from secure several time when trying to open mine random others shake open. One is missing a lock all together. So no giving this place a review it doesn't deserve is not worth 25$ gift card to some unnamed places. If wasn't the cheapest in town I would move out tomorrow."
