"If you are a person who works from home, involved in intensive work that requires concentration, enjoy reading, dislike the smell of weed, roaches, or simply look forward to coming home to a place of peace, Botanic is not the place for you. Perhaps I moved in when things started going downhill. None of the positive reviews resonates with me. The best thing about this complex is the free coffee, one of the maintenance technicians, and the screened-in balcony. This is the worst apartment-living experience I have ever had...ever. This is my personal experience regarding unit specific issues, and Botanic is not luxury at all. It started with my unit being filthy when I saw it for the first time. Furthermore, there was a syringe left in the kitchen cabinet of my unit. Within 1 week of moving in, the fridge was broken and there was a roof leak. The walls are paper thin. I can hear my neighbor snoring at night, neighbors arguing and fighting, and a dog barking all day when I’m working from home. They do not enforce no-smoking. I have complained about the smell of weed permeating my unit in the evening and during the night for months. I was told, “There is no way to know who’s doing it.” No mass email was sent out to address this issue...nothing. Therefore, it is permitted technically. Lastly, it is roach galore in the summertime with Palmetto bugs and different types of roaches. Regarding the building I live in, the elevator is ALWAYS filthy. Sometimes the valet trash pick-up service never happens. It’s not uncommon to see bags of trash in front of people’s doors because the valet service that we pay for didn’t come. Lastly, it’s noisy with electrical issues. When it rains, the alarm goes off in the trash room, so all summer I had to wear earbuds while I’m out on the balcony due to this. Last month, the big fire alarm went off at 2am. People were outside with their little kids in the rain, but most of us just sat in the car watching. The fire trucks showed up for 25 minutes and left with no explanation. So, I had to try and settle down to go to sleep at 3 am to get up at 530 am. There was no explanation for this from management about this incident. Save yourself the time, money, and stress."
"I have video footage of several different dog attacks. It's getting worse and worse with the aggressive dogs. We can hear dogs getting attacked, both in and outside the park, several times a week from our apartment. Management doesn't regulate the breeds either. Mostly, we're seeing Pitbull and Bull Terrier or a mix of these breeds, but I've also seen other "restricted" breeds. They're being called ESAs, but without any enforcement of ESA paperwork or screenings. Walking outside is a little scary, but taking my dogs out gives me full blown anxiety. I am tempted to call the police next time. Just today, I witnessed an attack from my apartment, then just 40 minutes later, I was told by some guy that i couldn't bring my dogs into the park because "she (his dog) is not aggressive, but not really friendly." This is not the first time I have been told this by an aggressive dog owner. Since I don't want my dogs to be attacked, am I (a disabled vet) supposed to walk all around the neighborhood with them? I was of the impression that aggressive dogs aren't allowed in the park, as the sign indicates, and that I actually pay for maintenance of this park. Perhaps I should be getting a refund..."
"I've had a great experience moving in. Dakota, who works in the office on premises, was incredibly helpful and kind. I was shown what apartments were available and all the wonderful amenities Botanic has to offer. Dakota even took the time to show me the Dominion power app that made transferring my electric service to the new address a breeze. Overall this place has been top notch! Can't wait to catch some rays at the pool!"
"Good place to stay if you are assigned to Charleston. The office staff is very helpful and friendly. They were willing to work with my situation, and are in general very accommodating to military members. Additionally, the complex is more accessible from a traffic standpoint than many other apartments I looked at."
"Let me begin by saying I had no intention of leasing here when I initially popped in to tour the space in January. I was toying around with the idea of selling my home and wondering if apartment life was for me. They were a block away from my home so I decided to pop in to take a tour. Amber (Property Manager) gave me a tour, and I instantly fell in love with this place. The weeks after, nothing I toured compared to the value I found here. The property is well kept, I love the finishings inside the apartments and this view every morning is the perfect start to my day. The 2-story gym is to die for! The business center is perfect for those like myself that work from home but like a change of scenery or need to conduct a business meeting. Y'all the staff is absolutely amazing! I can't say enough about the feeling you get seeing such a diverse, genuinely sweet and caring staff every time you walk through the doors. Amber and her staff have been very intentional in the management of the property down to the smallest details like adding Herb Gardens to every building. The Botanic Team have made my transition from homeowner back to renter a breeze! I highly recommend anyone looking in the area to give this place a look. You'll be glad you did!"
