"I'm a current resident, was forced to move into a non-renovated unit due to them over booking and I already paid a deposit. The "renovated" unit looks like it was done by a bunch of teenagers with no adult supervision. Cracks everywhere, flooring incomplete, huge gaps in weatherstripping around doors making heating/cooling extremely expensive. I woke up one morning to a clogged pipe, there was raw sewerage all over my floor, filled to top of sink, in the dishwasher (which is lower than the sink and connected to garbage disposal) and in my brand new $1000 washing machine. They told me they would sanitize and replace the dishwasher since it was contaminated with raw sewerage, they decided to replace my garbage disposal instead so now I have no dishwasher since there's absolutely no way I'm washing dishing in a toilet, that is disgusting and highly unsanitary. Also, I've had to scrub and sanitize everything including bleaching the hell out of my sink. If you place a work order stating they do not have permission to enter, they will enter your unit at their leisure with no regard to the mess they leave or your requests. That way they can do what they want with no regard for the tenants. One morning I woke up to one man in my house, wasn't even an employee. Was some random guy picking up dehumidifiers, they didn't even bother to escort him while here so expect random strangers to have access to your house too, even when u tell them they don't have permission to enter. Living here has been a nightmare... do yourself a favor and choose somewhere else. When I moved to my renovated unit they gave me paperwork for just under $1200. A week later it was $1300, the week after that it was almost $1500 so they also marked up my rent from $1120 to almost $1500. That's a 33% increase!!! Then justified it by saying the price they gave me was for a unit without washer/dryer hookups except they forget that I was living in a unit with washer/dryer hookups and chose to wait an extra 2 weeks when they tried to place me in a unit without. I chose to live here for the low cost of living and know of many places around for the same price with professional units, clean, amenities and legitimate living conditions. I haven't even bothered unpacking half my boxes from moving because it won't be long before I'm packing again"
"The staff seemed friendly to me when I inquired so I gave them 1 star. What made me so disgusted were the reviews and pictures….roaches, mold, and the complete carelessness of turning these apartments from one resident to the next. I’m SO glad I dodged that! I told the leasing consultant I had a toddler!! Do they even have a conscience?! Is this even sanitary?! If I WAS a resident, I’d contact the health department! My poor child would’ve been in a home that disgusting and that unwell kept. Think TWICE and READ REVIEWS!!!! Thank GOD I didn’t apply."
"One year ago, I moved to Charleston, SC and we found Summerville Apartments. We chose the apartments because of the location, and a bonus was that rent was affordable for what seemed like a nice unit. When we went to view the place, we were shown a renovated unit resembling the picture on their website. We were told we would be moving into a non-reno unit for 5 months until our newly updated unit was ready. There were last minute water shut offs, waking up to a flooded kitchen and mold in the bathroom. Then the 5 months of unexpected inconveniences and delays were pushed out to 9 months! The day our new unit was ready, they lost our keys and it was 5pm by the time we were able to get in, and the office had closed. Below are pictures of our new "Renovated" unit. It was a huge disappointment, especially after an already less than ideal move in day! We decided we did not want to continue with another lease and advised the management that we would not be staying. We finished out our lease, and had to go back and forth to prove our notice was given, and as you can imagine they are claiming our security deposit. I am writing this review to ensure others understand the challenges that come with this company. Some may not be as fortunate with flexibility, communication, and help, which got me through the past year of trying to make a home here in my new city. My recommendations are; Read your Lease and make sure to READ ALL OF IT! Keep a communication paper trail with this property management company because you will need proof later. I am so happy in my new place! BE CAREFUL THERE!!!"
