"BEWARE OF REPAIR !!!! Wilson marine did a gimbal bearing, bellows and some other out-drive work a couple of seasons ago $1600 )( we keep boat on lift out of the water ) last summer the gimbal bearing started growling again ..... only had put about 40 hours on the boat since original repair.( I have had bearings last 15 years with proper maint.) I called Wilson marine this past march to schedule boat to be looked at, they told me they were 80 boats out and would call when it was closer and not to bring in in yet. I called again at the end of June to see how they were coming ... I talked to a guy named Charles and he said they were still 40 boats waiting .... When I started asking question about why the bearing only lasted 40 hours, and the cost differences to fix between just a gimbal bearing replacement or a whole bellows job .....( he said around $1000.... labor was the same because both need to remove the out drive... just more in parts for the bellows job ??? Which in my research did not sound right.... MUCH more work to do a whole bellows job) I could tell he was getting aggravated and a bit rude and he said just bring it in when we call you and we'll go from there. Well that kinda rubbed me wrong so I started looking at you tube videos and ended up buying the $110 tool to pull, align the driveshaft, and press the bearing back in...... In my repair process I found the the drive shaft bellow clamp had not been originally tightened on the engine side which had allowed water intrusion, and upon checking the engine alignment it was off just a bit also ... I guess that explained why the engine would bog down just a little bit when you trimmed the motor all the way down before. The motor mounts have steel tabs to lock the mounts in place once adjusted ..... so I know they did not vibrate out. Fixed correctly for $200 So I get a phone call today ..... 5 MONTHS later from Wilson Marine asking me if i still needed my boat fixed ....LOL NO Thanks ......Fool Me Once, Shame on You ..... Fool Me Twice, Shame on Me"
