"Drove 40 minutes to get there on a hope they would have two of what I needed. ACE hardware didn't let me down... as usual. Everyone was smiling at 6 p.m."
"I rarely leave bad reviews particularly for locally owned stores. I went to Moody's Hardware because I would much rather support a local hardware store than a big box mart, the idea being that you get personalized customer service from people who actually appreciate your business. I realize I came in right before they closed, but the older gentleman who was "helping" me could not have made it more clear that he did not appreciate my presence. He DID communicate that he was extremely annoyed. I was in there just to buy some screws with a specific thread. He asked me if the head of the screw mattered? I didn't care if it was a Phillips head, flat head, etc, but then I realized it would be nice if it exactly matched the screw I had and asked if that was a possibility. To his credit he did look while grumbling a lot and showing distain. They didn't have it, they didn't have the second screw I had at all. To be honest if I'd received good customer service this would probably be a five-star even though they didn't have one of the screws I was looking for. The thing that really pissed me off is when the other gentleman that was working there, who was not rude in any way I might add, asked the rude employee if I had everything I needed. Grandpa Rude responds with " I don't know, he might change his mind again". Dude, I am right here. At least wait till I get out of the store to start making snide comments. This guy is going to make people run to Big Box Marts. Nobody likes being condescended to, and if condescension is an art, this guy is a master!"
"Maybe going back to the drawing board on customer service. My oldest sister just came in there to get a key made. It was only 4 cars in the parking lot this was at 9:41AM. She walked in and NOBODY acknowledged her. However other people walked in and was greeted. Why would I wanna spend my money with people who don’t even acknowledge my existence. We will go to Lowe’s."
"If I had the option to give zero stars, I would give it. Zero stars. I have never felt more disrespected in my life until I dealt with Moody’s ace hardware on Dorchester Road. I took five chains in to sharpen every one of my tips of my chains are blue, and they broke as soon as they came in contact with wood. They told me they were not going to be sharpen my chains since I complained and the bluing is normal on said chain . So I took my change somewhere else to have them sharpened where I was told the chains have been ruined. So I went back to ace hardware to talk to them about it and he accused me of bringing the chains in already messed up and they are refusing to even do anything with my $400 with a chain that they destroyed.. Not only that the disrespect I got from the lady behind the counter and the owner Trent was absolutely ridiculous. He said in no way should he have to replace my chains. I will never do business there again."
"This place is awful. The store is tiny and the shelves are always bare. Everything that actually is on the shelf is at least a decade or more old. I really have no idea what even keeps this place in business as they never and literally mean NEVER have what I need, and not even talking hard to find items either. Five separate times I have tried my hardest to give this place my business and all 5 times I struck out because they didn’t have it. Every time I go there I get a mix of excuses. From “We don’t carry that” to “we don’t even know what that is (despite the fact it’s right on the shelf at Lowe’s). I went looking for simple punches, they didn’t have a single one of any size available at all. They didn’t even carry them at all (so I bought it at Lowe’s). Went looking for 6X6 lumber to build a mailbox with (they never carry 6X6 lumber and I bought it at Lowe’s). Went looking for a simple drill bit set (they were out and needed to order more so I bought it at Lowe’s). Went looking for a simple #7 washer (don’t carry it and never have so I bought it from Lowe’s). It’s a really good thing that Lowe’s is barely a mile down the road so they can pick up all the business this place chases away by having absolute no inventory. I’m really so confused as to what keeps this place in business as it’s always dead and there’s never anyone there."
