Spartanburg Marriott

"WEDDINGS/GROUPS BEWARE!!! Great location and nice hotel overall. I lived in the area and have personally never stayed overnight. So I can’t comment on service or staff. This review is meant to help people looking for wedding or other group blocks here. They do not offer discounted rates to potential group business, which is very common in hospitality and I was shocked to not find that at a simple Marriott. I have over 10 years of industry experience and have never heard of a hotel quoting Best Available Rate for a room block. I work in the high-end resort market and even we give discounts to group business. Don’t look here for group blocks! You’ll be signing a contract and committing to pay for 20% of your unused rooms without actually getting anything in return to offer your wedding guests. As an experienced revenue manager, I’d highly suggest you look at their website to make sure they are actually giving you a deal before signing a contract. Signing a contract with no discount for you guests is nonsensical and definitely gives you or your guests nothing in return for your business. Weirdly, the other Marriott property, AC Hotel Spartanburg, does give discounts, so look there for your group blocks!"

"Staff was very polite and professional. Room was clean, bed was comfortable. The bathroom lighting was very dim making it a challenge to apply makeup. No soap by the sink for hand washing. Only 2 wash cloths, not enough for 2 adults taking multiple showers in 2 days. Stayed on the 5th floor- walls were paper thin. We heard everything in the hallway and conversations in the next room. Thankfully the noise settled down after 10 to get some sleep."

"This hotel is the first hotel in 17 years, 600 different hotels, to have hot water instantly come out of the sink. Not the shower, but the sink! I was amazed!!! It literally is the little things that matter! Bartender dude was awesome and my only negative is the bathroom was outdated."

"Friendly staff, comfy room. Good breakfast. Small thing but I appreciated the slow close toilet lid, rarely see that in hotels. Overall hotel very good. Not luxury, but clean, comfy and nice. Hotel engineer skipped his lunch to fix problem in bathroom, very much appreciated!"

"Stayed at this Marriott for a convention recently. The rooms were clean, the bedding was great. Very quiet hotel. The restaurant was very good and service great. Housekeeping came at various times which made it hard figure out timing to get service and yet have quiet time. First day was at 4pm, next day at about 10am. Third day I put the DND notice on and just got clean towels. My biggest beef with hotel and it would keep me from staying there again unless I could get a handicap room, is that the toilet is excessively low. I certainly could have benefitted from having bars to help get up and down. And I am very short! Beware (and don't laugh) !! One other issue is that there is nowhere to sit unless you are in the lobby, restaurant, or conference room. If you are attending a conference good luck having a quick rest between sessions or finding a place to eat a meal that might be offered. No benches anywhere!"
