"There has been a grist mill operating on the property since 1792. The current mill has been in operation since 1845. Fresh yellow/white grits, yellow and white cornmeal, wheat and rye oats amoung other delectables available in the gift shop. The mill grounds these products during special events held the 3rd Saturday of each month. There are many other attractions to see while here. Historic cabins and the Petroglyph Center are other highlights of the Hagood Mill Historical Site. They also have an 18 hole disc golf course. Hours of operation: 10-4pm Wednesday- Saturday."
"This is one of the best historical sites I've ever been to. We will be coming back soon and we'll make sure it's on a date when this mill is open. I think they still make corn mill here. This place is still in very good condition. Hopefully they'll continue to keep it up in such good condition."
"Absolutely love this place! I am a photographer and have purchase the photography yearly pass for my second year now. This is absolutely one of my most favorite places to shoot. The staff that run this place are absolutely the nicest and caring people you will ever meet."
"This is such a great place to explore. The gift shop is amazing, and the variety of gifts and goods, especially fresh grits and cornmeal, alone is worth the visit. I even learned how to "correctly " spin a top from the shop hostess. Much history, great experience...so much more than is mentioned here. Check it out for yourself!"
"I have been wanting to visit Hagood Mill for a while. Who doesn't love a good mill? On the site, they have several buildings besides the mill itself. Most of them are accessible and do have some furnishings to give you an idea of the era. The water wheel of the mill does run and inside the building you can see actual parts of the former mill's processes. Additionally, they have a building with a small museum with some history of the area, and the most interesting things of all, the petroglyphs. There is special lighting and a narrated explanation of what you're looking at. It's fascinating and well done. Of course there is a gift shop on the property and the nice folks there are very informative. Things to consider: you're outdoors between the buildings, with dirt and rocks, so wear sturdy shoes and some insect repellant. If it's a hot day, you need sunscreen and maybe some water. We got really hot, really fast. There are restrooms and handicap access."
