"Absolutely terrible management company! The apartments are basically shoeboxes. I've seen bigger apartments for less cost in NYC. Facts. Ever since Jean Morano was promoted in September 2022, tenant life quality, that had already been gradually declining since Christine left us in 2020, took a drastic turn for the worst. People Inc Building Managers at this location are now being TRAINED to be HARSH and UNFRIENDLY to the tenants WHO PAY THEIR PAYCHECKS! Ms Morano, abusing her new position, immediately added new building rules, took away long-standing tenant perks, and infringes upon their basic NY State Tenant's Rights daily. She systematically covered up Elm Aprts's fault from a unit fire when she instructed the previous building manager to unlawfully enter all the tenants' apartments without permission, intentionally waiting for them to leave their apartments so she could sneak in using the emergency maintenance key to swap out the outdated and incorrect fire extinguisher maps in each apartment. One scared tenant in her mid 70s had to pull the fire alarm after running up and down the hallway desperately looking for the fire extinguisher which was nowhere to be found. After which, she was literally scolded and yelled at by Jean Morano who never contacted the Fire authorities for a report, yet forces the tenant to sleep in her apartment with it filled with smoke, rubber, and plastic toxic fumes, instructing that poor lady to clean up from the fire herself! Turns out the map the tenant was provided by People Inc, placed in a placard on her door for emergencies, had been wrong for a few years now. After a fire, People Inc, routinely fails to inform their insurance company as well. Jean holds tenants responsible for unsafe appliance malfunctions and yells at/talks down to them like they're uneducated, little children after an incident that, naturally, scares the daylights out them!— never even enquiring if the tenant was injured or ok. 3 new managers in there since 2020. None have been able to handle it. The last one habitually walked out of the building, leaving the office door WIDE OPEN for hours, rendering each tenant's personal data exposed and open to theft and misconduct including copies of birth certificates, social security cards, and all personal financial statements. It's a breeding ground for identity theft there. HUD turns a blind eye to these shenanigans, as my Mom's apartment has no ground-fault, safety plugs on the outlet that is a mere 12" from her sink. HUD, and building maintenance along with the, then current, building manager, has *randomly* inspected Mom's apartment annually and has never cited People Inc. for this blatant fire safety hazard. We duct-taped over it for her safety and our peace of mind. Christine was amazing! We all miss her so very much and wish her well! If she were to train the new Manger, rather than Jean Morano, all would be well. What's this world coming to if this is how we treat our aging citizens in a rich suburb such as Hamburg, New York! Please! don't allow your loved ones to be buried under this hot-mess!"
