Reviews of e nail-14th St
"Love this salon. I’ve been coming every 2-4 weeks for three years. Mandy and Livia do the best gel, dip and extensions. I really appreciate when they help me pick a color and don’t make me feel badly about my short nails. I highly recommend making a booking in advance."
"DO NOT GO HERE. They left me at the drying station for almost a hour until I GOT UP MYSELF.ALSO I WAS FORCED TO PAY for the service before it was even completed because a worker told me to. At first I thought it was policy but then I seen two white customers who were in the shop with me PAY after their COMPLETE service was completed. I'm a African American woman by the way. So after waiting for almost a hour for someone to tell me my nails should be dry I decided to just leave since it seemed like I was forgotten about. I was running late for work and as I was leaving I was told to give a tip.So I did tip and I was then told the tip wasn't “enough”. I asked was a tip mandatory in the first place and was told Europeans “tip more” then I did. I don't know if he meant white by the term “Europeans” or what.Another employee jumped in and proceeded to go on and on about the same thing and suggested I give them my card since I didn't have any change on me.The moral of the story the service was not tip worthy. I could see through the nail polish I got them done today and they have already beginned chipping.ALSO he did not allow time in between coats to dry like most.My nails were basically done in a rush once another man beginnined hovering over the man doing my nails. So basically if your not “European” you will be treated differently and serviced below standard!!!!Then pressured and harassed by multiple workers that you need to tip more even if the work is horrible."
"I’ve been coming to the 14th Street location for over a year for dip powder manicures. At first, the quality was fantastic. Over the last 7 months, however, the quality of the manicures has really deteriorated. They chip in less than a week, so I have to go back and get them fixed every time. I recently went to the 32nd Street location - nails chipped after 3 days so I went back to get them fixed 2 days ago (about 9 days after I got my mani). They just chipped again. Unless you have the time to go get your nails fixed a week after getting them done, unfortunately this place isn’t worth the decent prices."
"I came here after work to get my nails done, 1st, I got my pedicure no problem. $52 for a gel pedicure... 2nd, I go to get my nails started they were $72 for dip powder with extensions ... it was supposed to be medium-long length and coffin shape I was suspicious when she cut them and they looked really short but I thought maybe I was crazy and after she began filing the nail tips I came to the conclusion that they were shorter than I wanted and I asked if the tips could be reapplied and for them to be longer. The woman doing my nails appeared frustrated and called the man working there over and he said it would be an additional $20 to change the length. I was extremely confused considering no powder or anything had been started just the glued nail tips that were filed on one hand... I said it was fine because I think $92 for nails is a bit much. As she continues she just keeps filling them shorter and shorter down and I literally started to cry because that wasn't what I requested. The man then comes over and says they don't understand why I'm upset because it's what I requested and he said the best they can do is offer me $10 off my next visit. I put my headphones on and waited patiently for my nails to finish which took an hour and 15 minutes. When the initial color was finished I asked for a glitter polish on top similar to the dip powder color that they had and she said ok when I initially said polish then she uses the dip powder and I immediately asked if it's a fee to remove it and she ignored me so I asked her to mirror it on my other pinky and now here I am. Just paid $123 for service that I'm completely dissatisfied with. Please save your money and go somewhere that will actually comply with your requests"
"edit: i’ve been here three times. the first two times it was great and took like 45 min but the third time not so much. when the technician was applying the color i noticed it was really spotty and dirty and had to ask to redo with a different color. the process for gel took over an hour which was quite long, and it still wasn’t well coated. i guess i just got pretty unlucky with the technician —— i’m super hesitant to go to new salons because my nails are pretty short and there have been times gel comes out extremely uneven. I found this salon because it was close to my office and so glad I did :) Livia was so meticulous & helped my indecisive self choose a color too (she also made my nails look a tad longer through removing the cuticles too haha). will def be back"
