"The Reeves Meadow Visitor Center was a disappointing experience. Despite its potential as an informational hub, it fell short in catering to various needs. Not being kid-friendly or disability-friendly, and lacking wheelchair access, it failed to provide an inclusive environment. Also had the pleasure of using the filthiest toilets in New York. These shortcomings greatly affected the overall visit, making it a less-than-ideal destination for families or individuals with mobility challenges."
"Center is small, has bathrooms that close early in the afternoon, sells some drinks and snacks and merch. Helpful kid working the desk recommended the red trail to us. Was a good hike, nice lake at end. Muddy at times, slightly flooded in some places, but it was the day after a big storm. Many bugs, but escaped with no ticks. Hiking sneakers worked fine, could have survived with normal trainers save for the muddy parts. Red Trail was a 5.5 mi out-and-back. You can easily spend 3 hours there if you stop to take photos and enjoy the lake. You're not allowed to swim but we and many others took a dip anyway. Just be careful as it gets deep about 10 feet in. Free parking at the visitor center but the lot is small. You can park on the side of the road near the center as well. Not sure if it's legal but we didn't get in trouble."
"Hiked from the Reeves Meadow visitors center to the Conklin cemetery by way of the red trail and returns via the blue trail down diamond mountain. Heading up via the Blue would have been safer on the rock scrambles. Beautiful views, nice trails, and enjoyable backpacking. Having a map or photo of the map was helpful at trail crossings."
"It's a great place to hike and enjoy nature. Just keep in mind on the weekends it gets very crowded on the main trails and parking is very limited. Most people have to park along the side of the road. Make sure you do not park in prohibited areas otherwise you will get ticketed."
"Great place to hike, swim, and just enjoy the scenery. Parking could be an issue if you get here later in afternoon, I've got a jeep so not worried about it. There is bathrooms at visitor center,with basic amenities. Other than that, it's a great place to walk around and get away from it all."
