"My recent stay at the hotel left me thoroughly disappointed, and I can't help but express my frustration and disgust with the overall experience. To my utter dismay, I woke up the next morning covered in bug bites, which not only ruined my stay but also raised serious concerns about the hygiene standards of the establishment. The discomfort and irritation from the bug bites overshadowed any positive aspects the hotel might have had. It's disheartening to think that such a lack of attention to cleanliness could be allowed, as it not only tarnishes the reputation of the hotel but also poses health risks for guests. I left the premises with a sense of anger and disbelief that a hotel, a place that should prioritize the well-being and comfort of its guests, could fall so short in maintaining basic hygiene standards. I would strongly advise anyone considering this hotel to think twice before booking, as my experience left me with not only physical discomfort but also a lasting impression of dissatisfaction and regret."

"Great location, but was left disappointed. The hotel is not just dated and overdue for a renovation, it's run-down -- especially the pool (nice feature, but itself an odd conversion from an outdoor pool). The only other clientele there the night my family stayed seemed to be value-oriented guests who were keen on constantly standing by the hotel entries to smoke marijuana. The tub in our room had a cracked bottom and semi-working controls. There was no free breakfast. Next time I will pay more to stay in the more expensive Holiday Inn Express across the street and leave the Howard Johnson to the weed smokers."

"Interior was a little out dated when we walked in. The rooms were recently painted and updated but over all simple. Located right next to the throughway and the town of Saugerties. All the front desk attendants were nice and accommodating. There is a little cafe and bar inside. I didn’t get the chance to check out the bar scene but the cafe had a nice breakfast! Pool was nice and heated!!!"

"Clean and comfortable. The outside and public areas are very dated-looking. I guess I got one of the good rooms... everything was clean and new, bed was comfortable and everything worked fine. The shower and tub fixtures were old but clean and worked. The staff (both evening and morning) were ok but really seemed as if they didn't want to be there. Looks like a "family run" business. Location is convenient, next to highway. Recommend the very short drive to downtown Saugerties to eat."

"Put a do not disturb sign on my door when I left for the morning so housekeeping wouldn't come in and mess with my things. Not only was the sign ignored, housekeeping moved a lot of things and threw away my leftover food!! Very unhappy with the service. Breakfast not included and it was nearly $200 a night, so kind of expensive for what it is. If we could have checked out early and gotten a refund, we would have. Rooms were clean and it's right off the exit, so it's rather convenient."
