The Melva Inn 68 West 120th Street, Manhattan, New York 10027

"I cancelled my stay with Melva Inn early March as graduation in New York was cancelled for May. I have sent several messages to The Inn requesting communication regarding a refund of deposit. This hotel cannot even meet my expectation of a response by email what does this say to a guest that actually pays to stay here. I'm embarrassed that I blessed the owner with my hard earned money, don't make the same mistake that I did, hope this helps steer your towards a more responsible and honest hotelier in the city. Do not place a deposit with this hotel on Bookings.com, there are many hotels that do not ask for a deposit up front."

"NEVER AGAIN!!! I stayed at this place for 2 night the service was very poor. Upon arrival I couldn't gain entry with my 14 year old daughter at about 2 am in the morning after a long flight. I tried to ring the buzzer at the front door but no answer. I was left with no choice than to dial 911 for the cops to put us up for the night, however the cops came and tried to call her then she answered her phone then 15 minutes later she came down with not even an apology saying she had sent an email with the door code but to my understanding few minutes later after she let us in I manage to log in to my email and saw she had sent me an email at the last minute."

"Inn keeper is a darling. I had a nice Room w a Private Bath. Soft clean sheets, plush towels a the bed was comfortable firm. Decor was simple and contemporary with a touch of color and vintage style. I would Absolutely stay here again. I felt comfortable and safe. More like home. Parking can be a challenge anywhere in NYC but it worked out good for me. Got a great spot right down the block and didn't have to worry about my car getting tickets or towed."

"DO NOT STAY HERE!!! 1. i did my due diligence in making sure i booked the correct room with 2 beds. Showed up to a dirty room with 1 bed. 2. Called them in morning and spoke to proprietor and she was extremely rude blaming me on booking wrong room. I emailed her a screenshot and received no response back. So we left day of and they still charged us for the night. 3. Place is old...raggedy and wooden loud floors with very thin walls so its hard to sleep at night. 4. Very unprofessional and rude staff so please book elsewhere! Caveat emptor"

"The room was okay. No wallpaper just a wall with no paint but the bed was nice with a nice TV and the bathroom was okay with a hot shower. I had trouble getting in day one because I didnt have a clue what the code was to get into the main door. I rang them and no answer but rang them second time and they gave me the code to get in but still had to wait around half hour for someone to show me to my room and give me the key. It should be more prepared and planned for guest coming in. After that scenario I had a great time and it's set in a good location and can access into the hotel anytime using the code. It seriously needs decorating to make this hotel excellent and for the price I would expect a bit better but overall still okay."
