Holiday Inn Express & Suites Kingston-Ulster, an IHG Hotel

"For what you pay for, there is no better option in Kingston and the surrounding areas. The beds are comfy, the breakfast is decent, There's snacks and necessities available 24/7, and the staff is amazing. I left my bag there and Rachel and crew were amazing at making sure I got it back. While the surrounding area around the hotel isn't very charming (Don't expect to come here and "walk around town", although there is a Stewart's across the street!), it's a fantastic base station to enjoy the best the Ulster County has to offer, without spending a fortune on a fancy, country-inspired hotel. I will stay here from now on when visiting the area!"

"Very frustrating experience here. Booked a Single King room, three months in advance, but at check-in was given a handicap-accessible double-room, directly attached to the lobby- with windows looking straight onto the entrance. Loud all night, no privacy, poor quality room. We'd checked in early in the day, with plenty of rooms still unassigned, but front desk staff was rude, condescending and dismissive in all communication- refused to budge. Despite explaining that it was a rare night away with my wife and showing the reservation email etc. Ended up needing to seek refund through my point of booking. As an IHG member and regular work traveler, I was pretty disappointed- do not recommend."

"Paul who is the man in charge of the amazing breakfast that's included with your room. Try not to miss it. The rooms beautiful, great beds. Even the pillows were marked form, soft. a/ c was silent. Best part blackout shade actually totally blacked out room. I would definitely go back. Hospitality was also above and beyond."

"I was prepared to give this 5 stars, because it's one of the nicest hotels in this category (Hampton, Fairfield, etc.) that I've stayed at. Overall, my experience here was great, but there were some areas lacking. The check-in process was perfect. It was quick and efficient, and I was properly recognized as a Platinum guest. My room was excellent, for the most part. It had a nice desk and a spacious bench for placing suitcases. My first issue is that these hotels don't bother to put a light over this nice suitcase bench. If you arrive late at night and/or leave early in the morning, you can hardly see what's in your suitcase. I often have to use my phone flashlight. My biggest complaint about this hotel is that I absolutely HATE these new a/c units that some hotels are installing. They are just incredibly STUPID. With any normal a/c unit, if you have it cooling at 70 degrees, and you put it up to 72 because you don't want it quite so cold, it just shuts off and doesn't come on again until the temp hits 72. But what does this idiotic unit do?....is starts blasting heat!! Nobody wants that in the summer! (likewise, we don't want it to start blasting cold air in the winter if we decide to lower the heat just a little). The fitness center is very large and nice with good equipment. The breakfast was decent, but somehow this is the only hotel I've ever stayed at that didn't provide oatmeal as a standard item."
