Reviews of Uncle Giuseppe's Marketplace
"People always rave about this place, but every time I try it I am let down. In a pinch, we grabbed chicken cutlet and some sides for a quick dinner. The cutlets were a dry, oily mess. It looked like an oily old shoe. If you can’t execute a chicken cutlet in an Italian grocery store, what hope is there for anything else in that grocery store? Folks on Long Island are generally wealthy, not one of them knows how to cook, so I guess it’s a good consumer base to support a store like this. But it would not cost more to provide quality product for people who do know what they’re putting into their bodies. I will not be returning anytime soon."
"BAD !!! And I am Sicilian ! I grew up on homemade Italian food all my life, from my mom, my grandmother to all my aunts & uncles. Even had pasta made from scratch by my own mother, including pasta sauce from her home grown tomatoes in the backyard garden. My family on both sides could cook. So this was a shock to me. I bought a pizza, a tray of stuffed shells, and a tray of chili bean dip. Wow, where do I start... Anyway the Sicilian style pizza had a great crust. That's it. The pizza was BLAND. Hardly any sauce by the way, and it had no flavor. No garlic or herbs in the sauce at all. The cheese was the worst. It is either no fat cheese or fake imitation cheese. Should be whole milk and REAL. And it did not even melt like real normal cheese. I know my mozzarella. The stuffed shells were no different. Bland, no taste, cheese is fake and the ricotta filling was flavorless. I was so disappointed to say the least. Then I put my last hope into the chili bean dip that was ridiculous in price like all their foods. I almost could not stomach it. Once again FAKE cheese that did not melt and stayed in slivers even 2 inches from the bake element. No flavor and they put cream cheese instead of whole milk sour cream on the bottom layer. Absolutely disgusting. Cream cheese does not belong in Tex Mex, only belongs on bagels and in cheesecake. I do not know what kind of "chefs" they hired, but they certainly do not know food or how to cook. And I will tell it straight to their face whoever owns this joint. They should never have a name like Uncle Giuseppe's which means Uncle Joseph's. They should call themselves "Uncle Vinny's Ghetto Hash" instead. Never buying that slop again."
"I live very close to uncle Giuseppe‘s and usually I’m very satisfied. The last three times that I have been there to order cookies they were stale I thought at first the first batch that I bought was just a freak, but then a month later I attempted again And they were stale . my husband just returned home today with $16 worth of Lindsey tarts which were horrible the jelly inside was hard as a rock, there was no powdered sugar on them, and the cookie was extremely stale. I don’t think I will be purchasing cookies from them anymore."
"Kristen in the cheese department was very helpful and friendly! She was knowledgeable about her cheeses but also about helping me pick out things within my budget! She gave me tons of suggestions for my holiday cheese board. It made my experience at Uncle Giuseppe’s easy and enjoyable! Will definitely shop here again!"
"Absolutely love this grocery store. We visit here every Christmas and are never disappointed. It’s so hard to come out of this store without buying everything. They have all that you need or want, especially for the holidays. They have a great deli area that you can get almost any type of dinner item. From chicken cutlets, meatballs, lasagna, rice balls, roasted veggies, pasta salad, shrimp salad, grilled & balsamic chicken, veal cutlets and the list goes on. We haven’t had many items from the deli but everything we have had is amazing. They make the food fresh which is great. There is always a spread of party platters in the front which are super convenient & delicious if you need something to take to a family or friend gathering. They usually have a full salad bar too with a few types of salads & antipastos with sides on one station and a hot station on the other side with soup, fried chicken, soups and other items. You have the ability to also get pre-portioned out salads or other deli items which is very convenient so that you don’t have to wait in line for the deli counter. They also had a nice selection of cheeses and chocolate / cookies area that is very tempting. The rest of the store is al fully stocked with all your grocery needs. We always have a good experience with the staff and the stir seems pretty clean. Produce is generally fresh with only a few times where some fruit was slightly moldy or not in good shape. I love this place so much, it’s such an upgrade from the previous chain."
