"Dr Luthera had no patience for a young child who had been diagnosed with anxiety and was only seen once a year. The nurse let us know she needed a hemoglobin test and my daughter went into full panic mode. When the nurse left I was able to talk her down to the point she was asking questions about the "finger prick" (she thought they were going to use a knife to prick her finger). She was still crying but she understood this was something we needed to do, why we had to do it, and how it was going to be done. Dr Lurthra then walked in and said she didn't have to do it. Also while my daughter was already extremely scared and upset Dr Luthra decided it would be a good idea to pull her pants and underwear down with no warning or explanation. I understand why this was done and what she was doing but my 6-year-old did not, and she was terrified. A pediatrician should be patient, understanding, compassionate, and helpful. Our visit was the furthest from that, now I have a child who is even more anxious and scared to see a doctor. Children deserve to be told what you are going to do to their bodies and why, not to be told a nurse would come to hold them down."
