Reviews of Brooklyn Birthing Center
"This was my second time using BBC (my 4th birth) and I had a dream birth experience! I was lucky because we were the only people there at the time and we had the whole place to ourselves. I had my husband with me, plus the OB, the nurse, and a midwife (for pushing) and they checked on me throughout. Everyone was really nice and capable. It seems like other people who had a negative experience had a harder time with their birth and needed to go to a hospital. After having an experience at Methodist, Mt. Sinai and BBC my thoughts are: 1. This choice might not be the best for a first time mom who doesn't know her own pain tolerance and if she can handle a natural birth. It seems like people with harder labors who need to get transferred don't enjoy it here. (From reading the other one star reviews) 2. Note that after birth they discharge very quickly and don't give all those different freebie products that the hospital gives (witch hazel, pads, underwear, socks, vaseline, diapers wipes, etc etc etc.) The quick discharge is good and bad - it's a little too quick but better than feeling imprisoned in the hospital. 3. The appointments leading up to birth were great, basic, everything you would expect plus short wait time for appointments which is great. 4. If your water doesn't break early and you're able to do a water birth you'll LOVE it :) 5. They let me eat during labor which was nice :) In general they give the birthing mom lots of freedom and privacy. I've never given birth at home but this seems like a very similar experience. I would use BBC again! One thing - make sure that you put in a child's name in the birth certificate form. It's a huge pain and a lot of time to try and change it after."
"Gave birth here to my second child after having a hospital experience with my first. To me it was night and day. The hospital is very pushy and restrictive while the birthing center just lets you labor peacefully as you’re suppose to. Midwives are very sweet and knowledgeable and encourage you to make the best decisions for yourself. I labored on the birthing ball and midwives checked in on me ocassionally but for the most part just let me be. Gave birth in the tub and it was great. Thank you to the team!"
"Wow! Let’s just say this was my third time around and my birth plan went like I actually imagined, non medicated swift and at peace. From the Dr visits until baby was born. I wasn’t forced to be checked vaginally up until I came in during active labor. Major plus. Dr Lee I believe is her name, was heaven sent. Just patient and on point with everything.I labored in water for a little. I was informed of my rights from start to finish. Inspite of the rotation with All the midwives, they were all friendly and communicative in which I loved. Thank you for allowing me to bring my birthing plan to fuition trauma free! Baby was born June 26th 2023!!"
"Customer service was great. I had a successful non medicated birth. There was no other patients giving birth at the time, so I had the entire floor to myself. The staff was very supportive, patient and kind. I arrived around 12noon and was 4cm dilated, by 9pm gave birth to my beautiful baby girl. I felt safe and well taken care of. My family was accommodated and comfortable. Thank you BBC & special thank you to midwife Monique."
