Reviews
"I’ve been going here for years and have always had the same reliable, friendly and thorough care. The wait is always appropriate, and the doctors and staff treat patients thoughtfully. The last time I was there the doctor wanted me to see a specialist, right away. Instead of sending me home to try to make an appointment myself, the receptionist made the appointment for me, for later that same day. I am beyond grateful for that!"
"The walls in this City MD are not soundproof, and I was able to hear the nurses joking about my condition and saying "we should take a shot every time someone comes in saying they have mono." This location misdiagnosed my mononucleosis as strep throat and gave me multiple courses of antibiotics despite never receiving a positive test for strep or any other bacterial illness. Because they assured me I had strep, I thought I could just take the antibiotics and live my life, and I actually made myself worse and ended up having to be hospitalized. I now have lifelong complications from having untreated EBV for so long. It is not that hard to do your due diligence and test someone for something they're asking to be tested for. Shame on me for trusting the doctors and nurses at this location and not getting a second opinion sooner. To the nurses taking shots when people think they have a serious condition, I hope you got a really good laugh."
"The doctor didn't seem to care about my symptoms, tried to discourage me from getting a covid test (which I insisted on and it came back positive); The NP was not very friendly, but better than the doctor. When the results came they were confusing and just said "out-of-range" I tried to find out if that meant positive and got someone on the phone whose English was almost impossible to understand. I really needed to know if I should start taking paxlovid (I"m 73 and had chemo) They wouldn't give me an answer on the result and said someone would call me back sometime maybe in 2-3 hours. I waited and now call back. I finally called the center again and got the local receptionist. She said she'd tell the doctor who would then relay it to someone to call me. They finally did towards the end of the day. They tried to discourage me from getting paxlovid (don't need it....which is contra all the studies I've read and other doctors I've since consulted with) IT WAS A REAL NIGHTMARE trying to get my results and know what remedy I should take. And except for the front receptionist, everyone I encountered, on the phone and in person, was either rude, dismissive, or almost impossible to understand"
"Looking back on it, I have never received adequate care at an urgent care place in Brooklyn... until now. Going to urgent care is always a last resort for me but as a teacher who works full time, it is extremely hard to get an appointment right away when I get sick with a reputable primary care physician who takes my insurance near me. They usually book up 1-2 months out and their hours are usually during the workday when I wouldn't be able to get there anyway. This leads to me going to City MD or another urgent care center where I have to pay a $100 copay (yes, there is a problem with this system). Back to the point... Dr. Alsabri at City MD felt like a family primary care doctor who actually cared to get me better and wasn't just trying to get me in and out (I was in the patient room for over an hour - unheard of at previous urgent care visits I've been to). He provided me with medication right there in the office, so that I left actually feeling better and with a path for hope! He did a thorough job trying to diagnose my issue, which a previous visit to a different urgent care down the block, had not done - leading to much worsened symptoms by the time I arrived here. I am very thankful to have had the experience I had. Thank you for caring, Dr. Alsabi! P.S. This was one of the few urgent care centers that were able to give me X-rays on a weekend, which was why I chose it - this helped confirm I had pneumonia (I called several urgent cares in the area before finding this one). Always call to check if you're looking for this in advance because sometimes the technician might be out that day, etc."
"The NP who helped us was nice, but Doctor Lam was dismissive and rude to my wife, and showed a complete lack of compassion and bedside manner. He prescribed a medication without notifying us about risks and side effects involved, which we found out about when we got a 2nd opinion from a different doctor (who prescribed a safer alternative). We will not be coming back to this location after this experience."
