"Loved this practice prior to becoming a part of the UNC system on 1/1/23. Here are some of the reasons for 1 star: 1) Billing is a nightmare. Have been receiving a bill being charged in full for a routine exam. My insurance company said that the wrong codes were inputed. I called the practice multiple times and they said there was nothing they could do. It's been one year and no one has helped me resolve this issue. 2) Communication breakdown and hard to get a hold of when you need them - I had my stitches re-open and a ruptured hematoma 1.5 days after returning home from delivery. I called the practice multiple times because I knew something was wrong. No one answered or responded. Ultimately, I had to go to the ER. I was ultimately transferred over to my midwife after hours waiting in the ER - which was great. But getting there, and in this scary and painful situation - was a nightmare. Scheduling and communication is also a challenge. We also had issues with the practice scheduling us, then removing our appointment from the schedule and not communicating with us. For us to drive 30 minutes+ each way and take time off from work - only to be told that we were removed from the schedule. 3) Super Long Wait Times - Every time waiting in the waiting room over an hour. Then brought back to room and had to wait at least another hour. Need to block off at least 4 hours in schedule each time. This is not respectful or reasonable as we have full time jobs. The practice seems to be 4) Inconsistent Care - Part of going to this clinic is that each visit, you have a different midwife - whoever is available that day. It becomes difficult with that model to establish a relationship, trust, and confidence with one person. Would much rather visit with one midwife. Not all midwifes provide the same level of care. Ultimately, I started schedule and request one midwife only and we really loved her. It makes me sad to write this review as I really loved the practice at first, as well as one of the midwives. Unfortunately - the logistics, communication breakdowns, scheduling, and model of the practice are a mess right now. Hope things can turn around as this practice has the potential to be truly game-changing in terms women's care."
"I am extremely grateful for this practice and all of the staff! Making the decision to work with them throughout my entire pregnancy and delivery, was so rewarding and from the very first appointment, I felt so cared for and knew that I was in great hands. This was my first pregnancy, so there was a ton to learn but they were always so patient and encouraging. I never felt rushed during appointments and they were so diligent in monitoring my blood work and making recommendations on supplements and dietary adjustments to assist with any deficiencies. I enjoyed working with each midwife and honestly would have been excited to be in the delivery room with any of them. My little one was delivered by Tianna, who was so knowledgeable, motivating, optimistic and made sure I was comfortable with adjustments we needed to consider during a very long labor. I am truly going to miss seeing these ladies so frequently, I feel like they have now become a part of my family, but will definitely be back when we are ready for our next!"
"City of Oaks Midwifery is amazing!! I had my baby in October and I felt very well cared for throughout the entire process. Everyone on staff made me feel heard and took the time to answer every question without ever dismissing me. They stand true to informed consent and helped ease my concerns from previous birth trauma. Once I had gone past my due date Cassandra focused in on helping to turn my baby to help him engage. I have never received such thoughtful and individualized care by any medical professionals before and will continue to go to them for all my obgyn needs!"
"City of Oaks is by far the best medical practice I have ever experienced. All of the providers and staff truly care about each patient and you feel so welcome, comfortable and important the entire time you are there. I’ve never felt rushed during appointments and all of my concerns were always validated and addressed. Cassandra in particular is truly a life saver - she delivered my son and gave me the birth of my dreams after a traumatic first delivery (with a different OB practice) and then guided and supported me through a rough postpartum period and I will forever be so grateful for her!"
"I cannot say enough amazing things about the entire staff at City of Oaks Midwifery. Being a transfer from a traditional OB at 32 weeks, the staff assured me I wasn’t too late on my decision to transfer and I still had plenty of time to meet all the midwives on staff prior to my delivery date. During my weekly visits, I felt even more confident in my decision as each midwife took time to learn about me, answer any questions I had and teach me techniques that as a first time mom didn’t come easy. Karen and Krissy were the ones who assisted me during my actual delivery, and they were nothing short of miracle workers after 26 hours of labor. They walked me through everything step by step as we progressed through labor, coached me through the challenging spots and even supported me through my first feeding post birth with Krissy’s lactation expertise. If you’re looking for more personal care with an experienced team, look no further than City of Oaks Midwifery."
