"Both my partner and I have been dealing with the debilitating effects of Long Covid (PASC) since our first infection in March of 2020 and then a subsequent worsening of symptoms after re-infection with Omicron in August of 2022. We both felt a general sense of dismissal from our providers at Authentic Health. My partner's provider even suggested he "push through" his fatigue, reckless advice in the case of Long-Covid and chronic fatigue which can lead to being bedridden. Neither of us received any kind of follow-up from providers after expressing concerns about our health at appointments. The mentality seemed to be that if your labs look good then you must be fine. As our symptoms began to worsen this fall (for reasons unknown to us), we decided that rather than return to Authentic Health, we would pursue the Internal Medicine department at MAHEC which facilitates a Post-Covid clinic. It was a relief to meet with a doctor there who immediately validated "classic symptoms" of PASC (in contrast to the puzzled looks I received at Authentic Health) and offered quick, streamlined admission to the PASC clinic. We are now having labs drawn relevant to the current Long-Covid research and potential treatments are being explored. I understand that GP's cannot be expected to specialize in every condition that their patients present with, but why neither of our clinicians at Authentic Health considered referring us to this clinic is confounding to me. It felt like we were both met with a certain measure of skepticism, which is unfortunately quite common in the case of PASC and ME/CFS. If staff at Authentic Health are interested in learning more about PASC to better serve future patients, I would point them to The Long Covid Sessions podcast. There are many informative interviews with current experts and researchers in the field. My gynecologist, on her own initiative, listened to several episodes of this podcast so that she could better help me with the hormonal issues associated with PASC. This kind of basic concern and interest, a willingness to not only listen to the patient but to heed their hunches and insights into what they are going through and feeling in their body, to learn more and to try to actively help - that's all we were looking for. But we didn't get it here."

As of 2024 he and Authentic Health will no longer accept insurance. I am glad to find that Hopscotch will be accepting Medicare Advantage so I will be moving over to them for my healthcare."
