"My experience with all of the staff at TMS of Knoxville was overwhelmingly positive. I went through the whole pre approval process up to the point until my insurance approved the treatment and I was set to start treatment… and then I got a job in another state that forced me to move. I was advocated for, despite insurance dragging their feet when it came to approving the treatment. I would highly recommend this office solely based upon how I was treated, the promptness of communication, and the knowledge of the staff & Dr."

"Five star experience! I had a great response to TMS and Terry and Dr Cook were great to work with. I would highly recommend them."
"I had a lot of issues with this facility but completed Tms at bearden behavioral without any problems. Terry who was in charge of all my appointments was dishonest to me - he said my insurance didnt cover the treatment and he cannot run it again and told me to call insurance and sort it out myself. So i did. Insurance tells them i am indeed covered- then she called me back immediately and told me shed spoken with them and fixed the issue. Great. However - Terry calls me back and says that HE reached back out to my insurance for me and straightened it out. No he didnt. Why lie? The treatment is uncomfortable. I am claustrophobic so i would be trying to just count my breathing while i was in treatment but usually cried some because it is just scary. I cant see without my glasses and i have to plug my ears and they put a pillow on top of me and suction my head into another pillow. I told terry it was uncomfortable and he would dismiss it saying "it doesnt hurt!" Or "its actually really boring" So day one, i am visibly in distress crying and Terry asks "why arent you making use of your degree?" I considered this to be pretty rude. He continued with questions like this each day (therapy isnt part of treatment). I bought some earbuds to help me stay calm and make it clear i didnt want to talk. I explain that to Terry and he says "are you mumbling to yourself or to me?" Very condescending. I replied "i am speaking." And explained again. He then said "youre not listening to grungy music are you?" I was listening to an irish folk singer as if its any of Terrys business. Not the first time theyd made assumptions about me because im young and a girl. Things like "she *actually* asked some good questions during the consultation" which i shrugged off. My first weeks were just me and terry alone in this house and that really made me feel weird. So i started bringing a friend with me, but terry was rude to my friends. I am so glad i brought friends because they confirmed my thoughts about how weird Terry was acting. I ask the receptionist when i can meet with the doctor because i want to ask that someone else be present in the building for treatments. She says i need to ask terry. Terry asks "what is this about?" I said id just like an update. Terry tries to dissuade me a couple times then says i could wait and doc might be in soon. I wait 20 minutes and doc arrives. Terry comes out and tells me it would be better if we just waited for a different day when doc could be in session with me AND terry to talk. I said no, i waited, i will just be a minute to talk to him. I tell doc i want another person in the building. He said okay. But then that its "no guarantee" and that he believes my request is hypervigilant and indicative of PTSD. I said no, i think any woman might make the same request and i dont meet criteria for PTSD. He kindof laughed and said id "be surprised" and gave me an assessment. I am NOT surprised because i have a masters in clinical mental health. I took the assessment anyway and did NOT meet criteria. Week 3 again nobody there. And i am trying to count my breathing and listen to music but still cried. You feel the pressure change in your head and its just scary. I felt like i was going to get a migraine. It overwhelmed me. Terry tells me "i want you to think about what we can do to make these appointments more comfortable for you" as if he hadnt already dismissed the only request i made. i tried to cancel my remaining appointments. The receptionist tells me i CANT - that i have to talk to terry for that. She says hel call me. He never did. My therapist lets me know that they called HIM and told him id cancelled my appointments and they think he needs to be getting my "ptsd" under control. Terry didnt call ME to confirm cancellation - he called and told my THERAPIST. Its so disrespectful. This is all because i said i was uncomfortable with just me and a strange man alone in a house together every day. Insurance approved my transfer to a new facility, agreeing that this treatment facility was shady."
"If you have tried many medications, years of psychotherapy and have reached the end of your rope to overcoming your depression then I would highly recommend attending TMS of Knoxville for transcranial magnetic stimulation. Dr. Cook and his staff are very knowledgable, keep up with cutting edge information on TMS, are very personable and friendly and will work on getting you back on track. If you can take a small chunk of time to invest in your mental health 5 days a week and be patient through the recovery process then definitely visit TMS of Knoxville."
