Reviews of Housing Authority Central Office
"If you are a black couple looking for two bedroom apartments don't go through them especially through ms Carly Shaw she will lie to you and lead you on when we go before God he don't look at our color because we are same in his sight it is bad they don't accept our kind"
"Me and my wife put in application for a two bedroom apartment through Ms Carly Shaw on 10 /30 lead us 11/21 after she had to call the court clerk for some wrong information on the wrong Larry Jones told us our financial was good until today she call my wife telling her she call court clerk and got it taken care of after that she told my wife something else came my wife ask her what our financial she told it was good and everything so if you black don't go they turn you down so giving warning"
"I absolutely agree with others. I love living here!!! It's just like living in any other apartment complex accept the rent is based on helping those who work hard to work, raise your kids, for those who've fell on hard times and those who just can't catch a break doing the right thing raising a family but can't afford the extra cost of electricity, garbage disposal, water bill, car insurance, etc. The staff are so friendly including those in office and those friendly enough to make sure repairs are up to par in your unit. Let's face it! Most families are struggling hard and the Mount Airy housing authority is eager to help them and encourage you along the way. I hate they removed the different community classes for those who are required to do community service when you're jobless but they do keep you up to date with other places that could also be potential jobs. Keep up the good work! Complaints come from those hard to get along with and are disrespectful but for those who are thankful to have a place like this to live, we say THANK YOU!!! UPDATE: still loving this place! Been living here for almost 20 yrs."
"I've lived here for a long time first with my 2 boys and now by myself. I rember when it was realy bad, open drug deals on the streets, people were scared to even drive threw, decent people were harrassed by others, they have worked realy hard to clean this place up and I applied them for it. Yes there are rules and they will kick you out if you dont follow them but that is a blessing. I am alone now and feel safe, would never have lived here several years ago was to dangerous. These rules are put in place for a reason and alot of them are mandatory from the state not them presonaly..i wouldn't live anywhere else . I personally want to thank the staff for there diligent work and caring for our safty. God bless you."
"I have been living in the housing authority for almost 11 years and I have not had any issues with them at all. They always make repairs on time and they have always been fair to me and my family. I have enjoyed living in the housing authority. Yes they have a lot of rules, but that can be expected when you are getting subsidized housing. I have had guests who stated they have never been to a housing authority that is as well maintained as this one! That says a lot right there!"
