"Hiked up to the top from grotto falls, workers declined food/beverage. That's a-okay since it's a business, still sucked but that's okay. The reason I give them 1 start is because of the advice that a worker gave us. They told us to take a different trail down to grotto falls parking that would be less steep and shorter. It was the same distance and 150 feet per mile steeper, coming in nearly 700 feet per mile decline on average. Not to mention it was getting dark and wet out, and the trail had steep drop offs. It was a ridiculously technical trail to take given the conditions and it was still recommended to us. The trail didn't even link back up with grotto falls parking, we ended up needing 911 to call us a taxi to take us to our car once we got to a road since there was barely any connection and it was pitch black out. Not sure how nice of a lodge this place is, but take their trail advice with a grain of salt."
"Definitely an amazing experience! Of course the cabins are very rustic, with shared bathrooms in a separate outbuilding, but this is to be expected for a mountaintop lodge only accessable by hiking trails. The beds were comfortable, the food was delicious, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The views were AMAZING!"
"We didn't stay here because it was all booked. However the place is extremely well organized and we had had to use some of their facilities staying in shelters. The way they deliver supplies with lamas is amazing."
"If you can get reservations here, it is awesome. The hike is hard ( last mile especially) and not for casual hikers but to have a bed, toilets and family style meals at the top is a treat. We go every year. Views wonderful. They take great care of you."
"Great hike! The first half from alum cave trail was fairly easy, but after that it gets more technical and steep. The views are unbeatable. My family has hiked it twice, and the visibility varies when you get to the top. Be prepared to encounter snow and ice in early spring, even if there is no snow during the first part of the hike. Bring enough water and snacks, because it will take 2 to 4 hours to hike up depending on the conditions."
