"Negatives: I was pretty disappointed when arriving at the Asheboro cabins, and had difficulty between choosing 3 or 4 stars for my review. I had no idea that these little getaway cabins were going to be stacked on top of each other. We were staying next to a couple with a crying baby. We didn’t take a “getaway” to be surrounded by wining kids. When outside the cabin, you can easily see other cabins. There was not as much privacy as I thought there would be. During our campfires, we could easily see the cabin to the other side of us and their campfire as well. The cabins are so close that you can hear other people’s conversations (someone was arguing on the phone) as well as other’s music - it didn’t make it feel like a getaway into nature. You can also see and hear every car that drives by & every car can see you- it’s worst at night bc of the bright headlights. My hopes for this trip was to experience solitude and peace within nature. I’m not sure how other getaway cabins are but I know I have no desire to visit the one in Asheboro again. Positives: We needed an extra fire starter the second night. Using the phone provided and calling was easy, and we received what we needed quickly. I was glad that the mattress was comfy and the shower stayed warm when washing up. I appreciated the recommendation list provided by Getaway Cabins and their personalized welcome note. The best part was the dog treats left for our fur baby when arriving. Two recommendations I have that wasn’t on their list is to visit the Millstone Creek Orchards (we got to pick our own pumpkins, eat freshly made apple cider donuts and drink freshly pressed apple cider). For our groceries, we visited Lowe’s Foods which is more of a local grocery store instead of Food Lion, which they recommended. Overall, we had a decent time but would not return to the Asheboro Getaway."
"I love to tent camp, but that is way too much work. The Getaway cabin is perfect! Wonderful! The pictures on their website are exactly correct! Easily 100feet or more between sites too! It’s so quite under an oak forest ! Magical!"
"It was peaceful, and relaxing. I was able to clear my mind and write. There was a fire pit with a small grill over it outside with chairs and a picnic table to sit as well. The cabin was cute and tiny. I absolutely loved it and will return in the future. Their is a big window in the cabin your able to look out to the woods or lake depending whichever cabin you get. Their is a small kitchenette with a sink, stove for 2 pots, a mini fridge, cabinet which they provide kitchen utensils and lighters. You don't have to bring pots, pans, cups dishes etc they provide it all. Dish soap/hand soap kitchen towels and sponge, paper towels, trash can with the bag in it. The bathroom is a toilet with shower and a first aid kit with plenty of towels and rags and tissue. When I say you don't have to bring any of that I mean exactly what I'm saying. Bring yourself, your food, or whatever else you may want or need if you are going to walk, hike, etc. There is also a fire extinguisher near the door. There is a ac/heat thermostat so you can control how you want it. You can purchase a fire starter kit for the pit and roast marshmallows or make smores. They have a phone on the wall for questions. Their is a radio in the cabin and fan if you want to use or may need. The beds are a nice size king. One top the other bottom. The table in the kitchen has 2 chairs but the side of the bed has a bench connected that can be used for sitting as well. A ladder to get up on the top bed. Overall it's awesome. The top you can sit all the way up unless your shorter than 5 foot Maybe. So I assume it's space more for kids."
"This is the second time we go to a Getaway cabin. This one in NC. I've never been to NC and the minute we crossed the state line it almost immediately felt different. Everything is luscious and green - almost manicured, although it is just natural vegetation. It's sunny, hot and beautiful out there. The getaway cabins are IDENTICAL no matter where you go. Each cabin is privately tucked away along the perimeter of 32 cabins. Inside, there is a tiny bathroom with a toilet and shower. The main room contains a clean queen sized bed. We got two since we had our dogs with us (flat rate of $50 or $75). A small sink, a small fridge, and a two burner range. It comes equipped with silverware, dishware, knives, bottle opener, can opener, etc. The cabin has enormous windows facing nature and outside there is a firepit surrounded by four chairs as well as a picnic table. It's beautiful, clean and we left relaxed after a three days and two nights of tranquility for around $300. Absolutely marvelous - I'm already planning our next Getaway."
