"I’m extremely frustrated with the breakdown of healthcare. My grandchild born in January this year is 3 weeks old. At 2 weeks she needed to be seen and couldn’t get in with a Dr. the nurse advised to take her to the ER. This morning, again no sick appointments and were told take her to the ER. What happened to seeing children when they are sick or there are issues with a newborn not tolerating the milk? The ER is not meant to used in this way, and to be advised on taking a newborn to the ER for medical purposes that should be handled by a pediatrician not the MD in a ER! This also exposes a newborn to all sorts of illnesses and extended waiting periods in the ER. This is unacceptable by a pediatric office. My hopes in writing this review is that it’s seen by someone that can facilitate changes in the way our healthcare systems are broken."
"I went to Gastonia Children's Clinic as a child and now take my 5 year old and my 4 month old to GCC. We started out seeing Dr. Cox because he was my pediatrician growing up, and when he retired we switched their PCP to Dr. Cloninger who I bonded with immediately. I will never forget the day I brought my newborn (now 4 month old) baby boy for the first time and Dr. Cloninger scooped Colin up and looked at him in his eyes and said "Colin, listen to me now. I'm your doctor and I just want to tell you how much you are loved and that I am so so proud of you and how much you are growing. I can't wait to watch you grow and I'm so glad I got to see you today". It brought me to tears, and I wish I would have recorded that moment because it was really something special. Everyone there is so loving and they are the perfect mix of research based practice with flexibility and open mindedness to what work works for different children and different families. They are very patient and in tune with the fact that they are working with "little people" and that the doctor's office can be uncomfortable and scary when you don't understand your environment, especially when you are sick. What is most impressive is that I know their job is to focus on keeping healthy kids happy and getting sick kids better and comfortable, and to support the patient. But as a parent, I have always felt validated and supported by the nurses and doctors. They have always taken the time to make sure all of my questions were answered without feeling like just another person in the room or just another patient in the office that day. If I could give them 10 stars, I would. I am so thankful for GCC and their staff and the care they provide to our babies."
"Most cases I am happy with the service I have received for my child but this last visit was a disappointment & has caused issues with my son's attendance due to incorrect absence dates waiting on a strep throat test. The office told me Thursday I had to wait to get the results back before a doctor's note could be given and I called Friday but no result. I was told Saturday they would call. No one did. So come Monday the office called but then didn't put correct absence dates and told me basically they won't change it and I should've sent my child to school unknowing if he had strep. So yeah just a disappointment with communication and now I'm stuck dealing with an unexcused absence."
"So far so good my son is only 2 weeks old so we haven't had many appointments but from 3 appointments we had i can say ive seen nothing but great things. Front desk staff is friendly and so are the nurses and the doctors are very informative and seem to love their job! I will defiantly keep coming back and would recommend anyone coming here for their child! (:"
"Both of my boys go here. I absolutely love all of the providers, clinical staff and front desk staff. I’ve never had a problem getting my kids seen in a timely manner and everyone has answered my millions of questions I have. I ALWAYS leave here with questions answered and concerns discussed."
