"Update: Since my initial post, the billing dept revised the code such that the blood tests were covered by my insurance, which has been the way all along. I wished that it was processed properly. ================================================ If you have chronic condition(s), you may have to pay (out of pocket) for the routine blood tests, at this place. I have had a chronic condition for 10+ years, and this is the FIRST year I have to pay for the blood tests. Last year, I moved to this area and had to change my PCP. For this year’s annual physical, my PCP ordered blood tests, which were pretty much the same tests I have been taking over 10+ years. Yet, I am asked to pay $360+ (out of pocket) for the tests. The reason is that current PCP’s office decided to code the blood tests as ‘diagnostic’ instead of ‘routine’, even though there was nothing unusual or anything new with this year’s tests. After finding out my out of pocket expense, I called my insurance company (BCBS PPO+) and I was informed that they cover ‘routine’ tests, but not the ‘diagnostic’ tests. I have had the same insurance company and the same coverage all this time. I am still puzzled why this office decided to code differently for the same blood tests I have been taking over the years. Please note that there have not been any changes to my condition nor the blood tests. So, if you have chronic condition(s) and do not wish to incur (unnecessary) out of pocket expenses for your routine blood tests, you may want to look elsewhere."
"Very happy with every step of the process to set up new patient care. One phone call to make appointment. New patient appointment was maybe 6 weeks+ out, but this was better than other offices. At my visit the office ran like clock work. Was seen on time. The staff was friendly and professional. Dr Kline spent a great deal of time addressing all of my concerns. Was able to get a flu vaccine, bloodwork and an X-ray all on site and without wait. Outside referrals were sent that day. Was called the very next day with lab results. I created an online account easily and accessed all test results, appointment notes and visit summary. I had a number of questions after I read my medical record and sent online messages to the office. Within a day or two the support staff and Dr Kline responded. My time is valuable and it was so nice to experience an efficient medical office. I hope this experience continues. I would recommend this office and Dr Kline if you are looking to set up medical care."
"Update - some very helpful people were able to help me clear it up a lot faster this time than the previous time. The patient rep people are always very kind and helpful, let me know this shouldn't be happening and to call them directly if it should happen again. So I will give them another try and hope for the best. The way they do their billing is a complete disaster. They say they have a sliding scale and that I am on it, but every time I go they end up sending me a bill for the full amount from their main biller, UNC, who has no clue whatsoever about any sliding scales and you can not get ahold of anyone locally who knows anything and the person they connect you with will not return any of your phone calls. What I don't understand is why they are using UNC billing services if they do not know about their sliding scale and can not work with it at all. It was much better when the office accepted the UNC charity care because then at least the billers they use could do something if there was a problem! I had written a review before from a past visit and after over 2 months of trying desperately to get it sorted they finally did so I deleted it thinking they fixed whatever the problem was. Then I had to see the doctor again, and the same exact thing happened! I've been calling everyone everywhere for weeks trying to find someone who can help me with this. And the guy in the main UNC financial assistance office actually YELLED at me for asking him about it, angrily asking me why I was calling him about it and that I needed to talk to the doctors office office manager but I've left a message once a week for 3 weeks and never get a reply! I'm very unwell and need to be able to see a doctor, I have an appointment coming up soon that I really need but now I feel like I can't go because I can't keep fighting with the billing when it's supposed to be covered by this alleged sliding scale, and I can not afford the over $300 a visit they keep charging me!"
"The staff are wonderful - from the front desk to the nurses. They are cheerful, friendly and professional. Dr. Royer impressed me with his caring and attention to detail. I feel that he is really interested and concerned about me as a person and not as just another patient statistic. It has taken a while, but I feel I have found the right medical practice for my care."
"Vitals nurse scolded me for not being there 15 minutes early … um text message said be there at 8:45. Went into incorrect office next door … Nurse who took my blood was openly expressing annoyance at my asking her to explain. what tests were being done. Doctor tried to get off of the issue at hand by selling me Pap smears. Had to remind her to focus on the issue I am here for. Needed to know if blood was in my urine today … answer not given. We will see if they call. Patient needs are not first. Bedside manner lacks professionalism. Please note this is exactly why I hate doctors. Absolutely no excuse for these behaviors. Left there feeling anger. Update … they did NOT call. Absolutely do not recommend."
