"Husband took a tumble on the Sugar Mountain ski slopes and got a gash on his leg. Ski patrol called an ambulance, but he was stable enough to drive him, so they recommended Watauga Medical Center. Showed up to ER and waited about 15 minutes before we were called back. Got an x-ray, a thorough wound cleansing, and 35 stitches. Entire staff was incredibly friendly and kind. Surgical & ER PA’s and nurses were super patient and personable, front desk staff was wonderfully kind, and gift shop manager gave our 4 year old son a free treat for patiently waiting. We’re really grateful for the team here."

"I’m not sure her name, but the red headed girl working the front desk in the emergency department Sunday evening was extremely rude. I work for a big hospital, and it’s not the first hospital I have worked for and my hospital is in connection with yours. Our staff was never trained to be rude like she was to our family. I’m very familiar with the rules and regulations on families, and how many are allowed back at once. My father was brought in ems, and was extremely sick to the point he was eventually shipped out. When we came in she looked right at me, and overheard me say to my family that we needed to have a seat until two family members could come out before two of us headed back to see my father. We had a seat and waited, and once two came out then my mother and I approached the front, and that was the first time we had even approached the front, because I already knew the rules. We were the only ones in the waiting room, and asked for her to let us back politely, we gave his name, and room number. She rudely stated, and kept arguing that he has his max amount of people back, and I said ma’am you clearly don’t know what’s going on, because their is no family now back with him, and they already came out so we could go back. I said to her that she needed to let us back. She then proceeded to get more rude, and tried to argue, and then when she finally realized we were correct she let us back. My father almost died on Sunday. He is extremely sick, and I drove hours in a rush to get to him before he was shipped out. In those moments when a family comes in their mind is worried on their loved one, and the important picture. Our family nor any others should have to deal with a rude employee during such a emotional family time. It adds more stress to the situation, and was highly inappropriate of her. She should have just politely checked with his nurse how many were back there, considering she didn’t believe us instead of being rude, and arguing, and wasting time. It came across like she didn’t believe us from the start. There’s a polite way to do something, and there’s a way to treat people and that’s not the way. I shouldn’t have to keep repeating myself that no one is with him over and over for her to finally let us back. I also lost time with my father who was close to dying, because I had to go back and forth with her."

"I am so thankful for the care I received during my 4 day stay here.From the time I arrived at the ER, until my discharge I was treated not only professionally, but could feel the genuine concern for my healthcare by everyone involved. I hope each of them know how truly grateful I am. Nothing but good things to say here. First class all the way."

"I had a hip replacement 2 weeks ago. This hospital is Top-notch!!!! I have to say from the team that took care of me before and after surgery they were great. The Orthopedic floor nurses were a step above. I love those ladies they took great care of me!!! Dr Anderson is the best in his field! A-1 from Day!!! Thank you to everyone that took great care of me. I am overjoyed to be able to walk again."

"In reading the reviews of this hospital I was nervous to take my 8 month old daughter here. We ended up on the 4th floor for 4 days before being transferred to Charlotte. The staff was absolutely incredible. I cannot say enough amazing things about our nurses. I would like to thank Maegan, Andrea, Ying and Dr. McGhee for their attentiveness and loving nature. Although we still have more to overcome the staff made it much bearable. We are so grateful. The rooms on the 4th floor are also better than any hotel in Boone."
