"I stopped in out of interest because I've recently gotten into fly fishing; I was visiting from out of town, so I couldn't take much back with me. Despite this, I received awesome advice and attention from Jay in the shop, and learned a lot about what type of gear to get started in the sport. Even got to demo a rod outside. Jay and this store are great!"

"Best day of fishing to date thanks to their advice ! Came in right before close on my way to fish, spur of the moment kinda thing while passing through town. Came in to pick up some terrestrials, which the associate helped me find and gave specific advice as to what would work. He then came back with some flies he was saving to buy himself when he got off , and was nice enough to sell me the last two, as well as taking the time to explain how exactly I should rig it up. Let’s just say I got out there and had myself the best day of fishing to date. Caught four fish in three hours ( still new so catching anything is awesome ) one of which was my PB!! Thanks so much !! You’ve earned yourself a loyal customer I’ll say that much !"

"I’m a lifelong Orvis customer. During my travels my first stop is always the local Orvis for intel on local fly fishing. For the last 30 years doing this has served me well, I have received great advice. Then I visited this location. I told the Fishing Manager, Susie that I wanted to find some trout and needed some advice. She said that she would give me locations to fish for warm water species because it is too hot to handle trout. Apparently fishing managers can implement hoot owl restrictions! Daytime highs during my visit are in the 70’s. The state of North Carolina has no issue with me fishing, I don’t see why Orvis’ own gatekeeper to trout fishing should. I thought trout fishing should be encouraged? She eventually said “just fish the Davidson” offering no other details or recommendations. I found a great local fly shop that told me specific places to fish, recommended flies, and provided far better customer service than Orvis Asheville was willing to provide. There are multiple local shops to choose from. This review is specific to Orvis Asheville. I have only received great products and service from literally every other location."

"Needed a hat for this sunny day in Biltmore Park, so stopped in and found one that matches my shirt. Black Lab on the front ( don't own one but love the logo). They have a great selection of outdoor stuff as well as shorts, shirts and accessories. Good hat saved me from a sunburned face."
