"Dr. Alter is a caring doctor who has kept me alive since my first cancer surgery in 2007. He listens to me and explains the course of treatment . His staff is on top of my treatment and very compassionate. The best all around, "A-1""
"Doctor Alter is the best! He is professional, caring, has a great sense of humor. I am doing great thanks to him and his great staff Ed Moss"
"To those that lost loved ones cancer is the scourge that takes lives not all of us have a happy ending. This is a very competent Oncologist that is consistently learning and keeping up to date with all the latest developments. He has an interesting new of humor that allow him to deal with tragic illnesses. There is not one oncologist out there that docent lose patients and I'm sure it pains him as much as it does us.Jokes take the patients mind off the sadness would you rather have him sadly mope around would that help your pain? Thank him for trying he does help most of his patients. I would recommend him to anyone."
"I have been seeing Dr Alter for over 10 years now. Back then, the Cancer Center was a small group so quite a few of the oncology doctors were treating patients with blood clotting disorders. Originally I saw Dr. Harper who told me to just take an aspirin daily but I knew that was not enough. My PCP recommended I see Dr. Alter and I am so glad I switched. After having a DVT and a near-fatal PE, he knew an aspirin a day was not enough. Even after I had difficulties with coumadin, he knew exactly what my next course of treatment should be and fought my insurance company to get coverage for it. Despite the fact he is now over an hour away from me, I still make the trek into Hackensack to see him for my regular quarterly checkups. Yes, I can see a doctor closer to me but I trust him and he knows me. He also keeps on top of of the latest research and medications, which is key for me. As another reviewer claimed he was "arrogant," I don't get it. Alter is a cancer survivor himself. If anything, I find him to be compassionate and empathetic. He takes his time with patients. With me, he answers all of my questions (and trust me, I come with many as I am a researcher myself) and gives me his honest opinions. He has never been condescending to me and treats me like a human being, unlike many other doctors I have seen who have serious God complexes and feel that they know my body better than I do. Alter is not like that. He listens and believes what I say. I'm finding that a rarity this days among specialists."
"Dr. Alter is the most arogant man. Because of his and his staff's mistakes my mother's treatment was delayed for months. So many mistakes that they even altered her original catscan results. If you go to him keep records of everything! Because this man waited, my mother's tumor returned and her cancer has spread. She was in pain and dehydrated for weeks and no one would help her. I have now changed hospitals and take my mom to Sloan Kettering and it's amazing the difference. We are just hoping it's not to late to save her life."
