"First off, I am not one to publicly post negatively about a small business, I believe they are the backbones of our community, and should be supported 100%. With that said, I went there with an issue, he "Fixed it" on the spot. Got home, put my watch in the box, next day it would not wind at all. Went back, left it with him for a few days. He called me to tell me the watch was fixed and he did a complete overhaul on the movement, without calling me and asking me if that was OK!! Instead of $200 total, he knocked $30 off because he didn't call me to let me know what he was doing. SMH. Nearly $200 later I get the watch back, seemed OK. Put it in the box to sell it on the used market. Three weeks later, I take it out to inspect it, as I have a buyer. The watch isn't hacking after a "COMPLETE OVERHAUL". (Hacking means the seconds hand stops so you can accurately set the time.) The Selita SW-200 is supposedly an easy movement to work on and maintain. I went back AGAIN, very unhappy. He had an attitude because he knew I was not happy. He tells me that automatic movements break all the time!!! Seriously??? How about if you fixed it right the first time?!! (I have owned HUNDREDS of watches, all automatics, never had any issues.) Needless to say, I was not doing anymore business with Sal. Too bad because he seemed like a nice guy. I would stay away if you asked me for a recommendation. Nearly $200 later and my watch is still not fixed!!"
"I gave him my Rolex to repair. Great person. Great prices. Amazing service and the most important thing very professional. Im Very satisfied and recommend to this watch-repair guy"
"This old-time watchmaker shop in "downtown " New City is a throwback to the days of artisan craftsmsnship. Sal has been at his craft for many years and he has several attributes that set him apart from most of the shops around. The man knows his way around a movement, and all the othrr tiny stuff that make mechanical watches run. He has parts for numerous brands and works on all of them. He loves watches and it shows. He goes out of his way to be accommodating. Finally. he is unflinchingly honest. I brought him an early 1940' gold ladies Movado. He quoted me a reasonable price for cleaning and fixing the one obvious problem he saw initially. After taking the watch apart 3 times, he got it working flawlessly but it would only run for 4 hours. So what did Sal do ? He dropped his charge by too much. So much in fact that I couldn't leave without paying him what he had asked. This guy is a great asset. If you have mechanical watches and love them, take them to Sal for a little TLC. He'll love your watches as if they were his own."
