"My cousin lives here and sometimes I visit him. The apartment in my opinion is nice but he has reported multiple roaches throughout the house. But, he says this happens rarely and the apartment looks like it is in good condition."
"We found roaches in our apartment as we were moving in. The super at that time sent over an exterminator. I don’t think the exterminator was very good. He walked around the inside of our apartment and sprayed pesticide on our floor. He did not look for signs of entry. He did not spray around the exterior of our building. For about 2 months, we were finding dead roaches around our apartment. Then the pesticides must have worn out because now we are finding live roaches around the apartment. We are clean people and do our dishes every day. We clean every week, but the roaches keep coming. We’ve tried our own bait from Home Depot, and they still come. This management company is unresponsive. We are trying to get ahold of them to get another exterminator, hopefully a better exterminator come through. But we cannot get an answer or response. When we moved in we were concerned about reviews about the management company being located in Brooklyn and being hard to get ahold of. One of the responses to the review stated that they have a “new management company now” which was supposed to be better. Don’t believe that. The management company works out of Brooklyn, even though the property is on Staten Island. I have never been able to get my “super” on the phone. The one good thing about the apartments is that they are fairly spacious and hot in the winter months, which has been nice in these cold winter days. However, for the price of these apartments, we would expect to get much better service from management, and not have to live in a cockroach infested apartment. Also, when you walk on the street here in the summer it smells like rotten garbage because the trash containers have no lids and people just dump garbage openly in them. Management piles the bags of trash directly on the sidewalk and it smells pungent. On the hot days, you can taste it in the air."
"Convenient place to live if you have a pet, as most apartments on SI are not pet friendly. But beware. Me and my husband had a horrible experience here, namely the heat was not functioning. We called management several times to try to get it repaired, twice some men came to "repair" the heat by opening up the pipes in the radiator to drain it and still it wasn't fixed. Thermometer in my apartment literally read 55 degrees and the maintenance man looks at it and tells me, "But the heat is working, it's on, I feel it." I know the heat can be turned on because after a few complaints to the city (311) it was nice and warm, but that was only for a few days. It was literally ~55 degrees in my apartment all winter, had to use a space heater to survive. Look at the images I posted from December to March, ranging from 50-58 degrees. We were in a rough place at the time and knew we had my mother's house to go to when we couldn't stand it anymore, and we knew we weren't renting another year, so we didn't want the stress of fighting with them. I encourage everyone who does live here currently to call 311 and file a complaint with the city if your heat's not on--NYC is supposed to fine them $1000s a day, but when we were both at work during the day, the city would come and no one would be home. If we did pursue it further probably could've gotten the city to scare them into providing heat. Again, highly recommend staying away from this place. So many calls to management and they just didn't care that we were living in cold temperatures. It was truly a stressful and demeaning experience. Also, there was one point where one of the buildings across the street from us in the same apartment complex had a major sewage flood in the basement of the building, could smell sewage from a block away. Their fix was pumping the sewage water into the street in the middle of the summer. People were living in that building at the time (!) and they took roughly 3 months to fix it. Can you imagine living in those conditions? Other cons are, the walls are pretty thin, could hear everything in the kitchen next door. Also, if you live on the second floor your unit will have ugly carpeting to reduce noise for the downstairs units. Also I'm pretty sure my dog caught fleas from that carpeting, (fleas nest and lay eggs in carpeting) even though we had it professionally cleaned when we moved in. Also, parking is bad, having to walk back to your apartment from blocks away at night is a drag. Parking lots close to your unit at a ridiculous monthly charge ($90) should be included in the very high rents. Also my hamper got moldy from the moisture from the windows, window frames themselves were moldy. Do not trust the good reviews on here, I think it's some happy-go-lucky young people who have very low standards for their quality of life. Do not be fooled, like we were, by the relatively clean and modern apartments. Seriously. Look elsewhere. Looking forward to management's response to this review."
"I chose this area because it’s nice, quiet, safe, affordable, and the apartment was nicely done. With that being said, there are some things that are disappointing. Two weeks before I was due to move in, they called to tell me the apartment wasn't ready. (The floors weren’t finished) meanwhile I seen the apartment unfinished at the end of June, signed a lease in early July,!and was due to move in on September 1st. With such late notice, scheduled a moving truck and gave my landlord notice I had no choice but to move. They didn’t offer any compensation or to pro rate my rent for September for however much longer they needed the apartment vacant. When moving in the floors were barely dry from the poly and all the windows were closed! Why?! Anyway, to say the least at 5 months pregnant I was sick for a week because of the smell. Also the floors in a lot of areas of the apartment you can see where they sanded down and there is no poly (thank god for area rugs). Second issue I had was setting up my electric. The apartment use to be student housing and they had a certain setup and because it was never closed I couldn’t open an account for a month. Back and forth between con-ed and leasing I finally got the issue fixed but I had to annoy everyone everyday to get this done. I didn’t want to go moths in the apartment with no electric bill. Third, the heat in the winter is not that good. The 1st year living here and bringing my new baby home was pretty horrible. The 2nd year living here I have to say has been a big improvement. Now, the laundry rooms are filthy. There is always always a ton of pet hair! Other tenants don’t check the machine after use or bother to clean up after themselves. Ton of dust and half the machines don’t work. I take my laundry down the hill and save myself the trouble. The most nuisance is the dog poop! It’s everywhere!!!! When trying to get to your car with packages or a baby or just getting in general you’re always trying to find where to step. I wanted to sign for another year but after two years I think it’s time to find something new."
"Apartments are decent. Maintenance and porter staff are good workers. Only issues is the parking is bad at night. If you get home late then you'll be searching for a parking space for a while unless you rent a parking spot or garage which for newer tenants is ridiculously expensive. Apartments are cold even though they just repaired the heating system they do not put it high enough for apartments which were built without insulation. All in all though the neighborhood is nice and the biggest advantage to living here is the fact that you can have a dog."
