"After booking to get an amazing rate, I read reviews and was nervous about what we would find when we arrived. I shouldn't have been concerned. Front desk staff were patient and helpful with our questions about getting around the city. The location is convenient to EVERYTHING. The heater in this room was silent and the thermostat responsive. The towels and linens were great quality. The water temp and pressure were great. The finishes in the room are not new, and the elevators are probably historic. And to be completely candid, there was an M&M candy on the floor under the desk, indicating that the floor had not been thoroughly vacuumed following previous guests (but we have encountered similar oversight in 4-star hotels in various parts of the country). We were on the front of the building, so there was street noise coming up. We enjoyed it. I can understand that might not be enjoyabe for every guest, but also might be something to address when booking. One thing we all loved is that this hotel was packed with a diverse clientele from all over the world. The Blakely is steps from all kinds of historic and popular points of interest. There is everything from fine dining to traditional regional fare within a short walk any direction. We were there to see the city and The Blakely was everything we needed. We will return."
"Low ratings are insane - this is the best hotel you'll get in NYC. The rooms are HUGE - these cuts don't exist in NYC anymore. It's an old building with old and small elevators, but those are nothing to cry about. Everything you need for a comfortable stay is here - large bed, sofas, large bathrooms, closets, kitchenette, and lots of space. It's not glamorous or modern, but you're staying at a great and affordable hotel within walking distance of many places you'd need to see in NYC - Empire State Building, Central Park, Time Square, Rockefeller Center. There's also a subway station literally down the street. Highly recommended as long as you're not a whiny visitor who cries at the smallest inconvenience."
"We stayed at this hotel for one night before our cruise. The location was perfect. Close to Rockefeller Center, Central Park and not far from Times Square. The room was Clean and the bed was very comfortable. When I booked it was at least $100 less than anything else I could find. After booking I was a little nervous. I saw older reviews that weren’t good. But, we were very pleased. Staff were all nice and we were checked in quickly. I would definitely stay here again."
"After reading the reviews I was honestly terrified when checking in that we would have problems but that was not the case at all. I called a couple times prior to arrival and confirmed my reservation was set and ready to go! The hotel itself is older and not super “fancy” but my husband and I loved it. It was in a perfect central location. Super quick walk to Central Park, Rockefeller Center & Times Square. HUGE rooms compared to what I’ve seen when researching other hotels. The main downside would be the small elevators and small stairs into the lobby (we didn’t mind but could be more difficult for those with disabilities). They don’t have many amenities, but honestly we weren’t at the hotel enough to even care about that. We came to NYC to explore and adventure not sit in a hotel lol. Definitely one of the cheapest/affordable hotels I found and it was exactly what we needed for our 4 day stay around Christmas! They also held our luggage ($2 a bag) for the entirety of the day when we checked out so we could explore more and catch our flight later on at night. Highly recommend!"
"We actually really liked it here. Hotel isn’t new but it has its own charm. Rooms are big, bed is comfortable, and bathroom is beautiful. Everything was clean and also cleaned on a daily basis. We stayed in a newer and modern hotels during our trip to the States but actually liked Blakely the most. Location is literally amazing. Subway and buses are minutes away, Rockefeller center is 3 minutes by foot. Across the street is a perfect coffee shop for breakfast with affordable prices (for Manhattan) and very good food and also, there’s a Wagamama restaurant down the street which we really enjoyed."
