"Decent size room, very clean and comfortable. Can be a little noisy because of the age of building, but not a deal breaker. Friendly staff. We only stayed a couple nights so did not request daily room service. Excellent upper west location. Close to museums, central park and numerous restaurants. Took advantage of after holiday prices so it was a great value."
"Just an overall great hotel. Awesome location, but more importantly it was spotless! Excellent hot water and water pressure. Our double room was spacious (for NYC) and we had everything we needed. Service was also top notch. The entire team was friendly and helpful and very prompt with any requests. The decor will remind you of a small boutique hotel of years ago. We plan to return!"
"Beautiful historic hotel well appointed and clinging to the best of the pass. Dark, slightly moody design with ornate aesthetics. Smooth and pleasant check-in experience after a few challenging conversations over the phone prior to arrival. However, internal executive changes may have accounted for the wisps of staff discontent. Lovely room, clean and comfortable. The Doorman's customer service and attention to detail was unmatched. Worth a second stay Indeed."
"My new favourite hotels and area of Manhattan! Hotel rooms were very comfortable and much larger than I expected for NYC. Staff was very attentive and kind to our whole family. The surrounding neighbourhood feels more authentic and less touristy than some of the hot spots in midtown. We stayed here to watch the thanksgiving day parade and had a short 5-7 minute walk to an excellent spot on Central Park west. Location is also 2-3 minute walk to the subway. Loved the entire stay and will definitely come back!"
"The location is great for the Natural History Museum, Central Park, and the surrounding area. The rooms are nothing fancy but okay. I appreciated that it was possible to open the windows and get fresh air. The restaurant off the lobby is perfectly decent and has great service. But, I wouldn't recommend staying here until they repair the second elevator, as the single working elevator is very inadequate for a 12-story hotel. Long waits every time, and sometimes you have to wait even longer because there's no room to board the elevator on the first try (especially around check-out time). The stairs are steep and narrow. Would hate to think about evacuating in an emergency. Lastly, I was misquoted the price for a car to the airport by the front desk and had a mildly unhappy surprise when arriving at the airport (she told me the price included tolls, and it did not). So, that ended my stay on a bad note."
