"I will have to give my experience at this hotel 3/5 for my personal experience I love Hilton properties but this particular one turned me off. I called to ask about parking before booking this room. I was informed it would be $50 a night which is fine considering I’m in the heart of midtown however I was NOT told the parking was offside and to drive to the site with 5 pm traffic took 15 additional minutes. Then having to walk with our bags to the hotel in 12° weather was not enjoyable. When we checked in they asked for a card for incidentals, which is normal I already had a card I booked the hotel on. I use a different card for incidentals and was charged a full amount on the wrong card. After I was assured, I was not going to be so once again another inconvenience that was irritating. When we get into our room I was not expecting it to be the size of hallway. It was so tiny I was surprised. We booked a king size bed and hardly had room to move around and get changed . The room amenities were great. Came with a microwave and refrigerator room is also clean. We were woken up at 8:45 in the morning due to construction in the hotel it was so extremely loud (also would have been nice to know when checking in or even when I called earlier before booking ) check out time was 12 pm house keeping was knocking on my door at 10:15!!! Asking if we were heading out. That was the most unsettling as I just managed to drift off to sleep with all the noise just to be jolted awake by staff at my door. So for those reasons my experience at this particular property was more like a 2/5. Felt like a waste of money as I was not able to be fully rested for the drive home the next day."
"The hotel is well located. The room was cozy and clean. There could be a little more storage space and a place to open a suitcase. The bathroom is huge and there is a shelf for things. The room had a nice partial view of Times Square. You could hear the noise of construction work during the day. It didn't bother us because we were in the city during the day. The staff was friendly, especially our cleaning lady. She always greeted cheerfully."
"For the location it’s not terrible. It’s a quick walk to Times Square and broad way. Pluses- later checkout, decent view, affordable. Minuses- noise. We were on the 30th floor and there was a constant banging. It was either the pipes or the elevator. Moving onto the elevator- cramped and didn’t feel super safe in one. It banged on something as it hit every floor. In general the hotel is cramped feeling and the rooms are small, however it’s kind of expected in New York. Bed was not comfortable and the heating system kept going down to 68 and up to 73 sporadically even if I tried to change it. They do have breakfast downstairs but be aware if it’s not grab and go then it is NOT free."
"My husband and I took a trip to see Christmas time in New York. We stayed at Hilton Garden Inn Central and had the absolute worst experience. Not only did they charge an extra $1300 without authorization ($1300 gone on vacation, that was to be used to do other things) but they also would not release funds back to my husband. The manager was nice however left us with broken promises the entire second day of our trip. That is a lot of money to just “accidentally” charge someone who could have used that on so many other things in this expensive city. Front desk people could have been a little more friendly. I understand it’s a busy season but each customer should be treated the same, with the same attitude and respect. We attempted to call house keeping and ask for extra pillows, the first night…finally got them the last night of our trip after another 2 phone calls. Housekeeping had not touched our room when we arrived back to our room at 3pm. The view was awesome- however would have been nice to know the whole building you could see with the New Years ball was under construction. Very disappointed. We made the best of our trip but the chaos of this hotel really made for a nightmare."
"My husband and I called months ahead of time and asked for the best room for our anniversary and the rep assured the ball drop view room of time square and view would be the best and worth the money. Assured us we would receive something special for our anniversary as well. Upon arrival we checked into our room which was not a time square view as indicated and it was a construction site with the ball drop. We went down to try and discuss any change and the desk clerk said very rudely “it was within 72 hours and we couldn’t change.” We called the Hilton customer service and they said to deal with them directly. The king bed had no support on one side and the mattress felt like you were sleeping on a board because it was so worn. Also the elevator (dragging cables on the wall and ceilings really hindered your sleep. We called for them to come check it out and they said they would send the engineer up but never did. I have videos and recordings to prove the noises. Over all the staff were not helpful and didn’t seem to care if we were satisfied or not so don’t believe their motto in their rooms. We are still waiting to see how they make this right."
