Reviews of Floodwall Park
"Floodwall Park in Manchester, RVA is very relaxing with a breath of fresh air in the evening. The 2 mile long walk leading up to Brown’s Island offers fabulous scenic views of the city’s skyline. Floodwall over the James River offers opportunities for walking, jogging, sitting by the riverside, making an engagement or wedding proposal, ideas for things to do here are endless."
"It's a parking lot with access to the James. We ended up parking at the rafting outpost takeout lot. Probably an easier paddle out from Floodwall (you don't have to paddle upriver), but not the most aesthetically pleasing parking lot."
"Nice views of the James, city. No trash receptical for dog bag disposal, poop bags just piled on the ground by the stairs and poop all over the grassy area where owners didn't bother to pick up their dogs mess! Disgusting."
"Beginning at Semmes Ave. parking area, we followed the signs to the walkway under the bridge to the floodwall. We decided to take the 3.1mi loop vs out & back; crossing the Mayo Bridge to the Canal Walk and back to Brown's Island and across the Potterfield Pedestrian Bridge to our starting point. It's an easy graveled & paved walk that offers a variety of scenic changes that makes the time interesting. Just know, the walk is fully exposed and could get hot under sunny skies. Once you cross the Mayo Bridge, look for a narrow path in the grass right before the floodwall. Follow it and you'll come to the secluded trailhead for the Pipeline. This in an interesting walk above and along the James. Should be extra fun when the water is raging. Today the river was 5 ft below normal."
"Very fun place to visit. Plenty of easy flat trails to walk, run or bike and beautiful sights. Lots of blue herons and you'll most likely catch an Osprey flying around."
