"I am grateful to MEDIC SOLO for the top notch wilderness medical education that I received. The hybrid Wilderness First Aid class they offer is a mix of online videos and then an intensive weekend with in-person educational presentations and applying what you’ve learned in staged emergency scenarios. The videos allowed me to get a start on learning at my own pace and convenience. Being able to rewind and rewatch the videos was invaluable to me truly “learning” the material. I think that when we are learning to LITERALLY SAVE A LIFE, we should exploit every educational medium available. You shouldn’t have to search through a manual or notebook during an emergency. Kudos to Matt and everyone for the videos...and the program as a whole. The founder of MEDIC, Matt Rosefsky is a world-class wilderness medical expert. The other instructors are absolutely stellar as well. For the weekend component of the program, Phoebe taught masterfully and the class work was incredibly enjoyable. I also attended the CPR certification with Matt. He is an exceedingly qualified teacher and has a gift for making sure the students are applying the information correctly. In every component of the MEDIC SOLO program, learning the anatomical, diagnostic, and treatment curriculum was enlightening, fun, and interesting. One thing that I didn’t expect to learn was “bedside manner”. The whole program is patient oriented; as it should be. Respectfully communicating and compassionately caring for the patient is not only written into the curriculum but genuinely exemplified by the instructors. These people are sincerely kind and caring people. Seeing from the patient’s perspective and treating her/him gently, respectfully, and professionally is essential. This has ended up spilling over into other parts of my life and (I believe) has made me a better human being. I got a lot more from this education than I bargained for! Thank you MEDIC! If I’m ever in a wilderness emergency, I honestly hope that someone who completed MEDIC SOLO courses is nearby."
