"I have never been more displeased with a front office for a surgery center or hospital. EVER! While the nursing staff was very kind, I was billed incorrectly for my first surgery in October. They didn’t send a bill until the second week of December. I paid promptly. Then 3 days later, I received a call informing me I’d have to pay for my second surgery a week later day-of. I explained I didn’t have to do that the first surgery and was first told my first surgery ‘didn’t cost anything’. Then I was told they made a mistake the first surgery and that I’d have to pay. I explained I wasn’t prepared to pay almost $500 last week and another $500 the day after Christmas unexpectedly. They arranged 50% day-of. Unexpectedly, we change some things about my surgery and there are fewer procedure codes. I call the surgery center to update and ask if my payment will be adjusted and they say NO! Explain that to me? Day of surgery, I check in and am asked to pay 100%. I have to recount the entire event, the fill-in office manager has to be consulted. Then I’m told I need to sign a payment agreement for the second payment and they need the card I’m paying with. It’s with my husband. To summarize, I won’t EVER be back despite my surgeon being fantastic! I work in healthcare and this is not how you treat patients when the miscommunication starts by an error from YOUR staff. DO BETTER!"
"I had a procedure done this morning and the staff went over and beyond to make sure I was comfortable the whole entire time and made it known that I was well taken care of. I was definitely very nervous before the procedure but their kindness had a weight lifted off of my shoulders. I’ll have to say that it was probably by far the best visit I’ve ever had, especially since I get anxiety when it comes to being in hospitals. Thank you, Blue Ridge Surgical Center!"
"The people are great. The staff was very attentive to mom’s needs and one kind lady offered her a warmed blanket in the waiting room when she told me she was cold! Good caring people! I came to complain about the restrooms in the Surgery Center area. The closest ones to the waiting area are TINY and NOT wheelchair friendly or ADA compliant (narrow doors, no grab bars). I had to push my mom to the hospital area to access a bathroom big enough to maneuver a wheelchair and have handrails for her to transfer. Guess what? No paper toilet seat protectors! I had to take my emergency one out for her. Also the shelf to put our purses on was above the toilet and there were no hooks to hang our purses on or a counter. The bathrooms annoyed me so much that I bit my tongue to not cuss and complain in front of my patient mom who gets annoyed when I express annoyance! It’s nice that the caring nurses can make up for the unthinking architects and engineers who were not thinking when they designed the bathrooms! Update: the surgery administrator called me shortly after this posted, we discussed my concerns. When I took my mom in for her second cataract procedure, they were actively renovating the bathrooms to make them ADA compliant. Kudos"
"Accompanied a friend here for surgery. All staff were kind and caring, especially the nursing pre/post surgical staff. All my friends needs were met with efficiency and a kind attitude and smile. The atmosphere in that area was one of calmness and reassuring comfort. The general waiting room staff were not as receptive. Staff were not impatient, but all were all business, giving that area a more controlling and cold feel. The digital board of patient progress throughout the stay was helpful, but not entirely accurate, as when I was called to the recovery area, the board indicated surgery was still in progress. The physician/surgical progress was running behind, and we were informed of that, but stayed for 5 hours total for a half hour to hour anticipated surgical procedure. Overall, I would recommend this practice within Lewis Gale Clinic for the surgical skill and caring efficient nursing staff. 4/7/23 Accompanied a patient for a procedure at Blue Ridge Surgery and experienced nothing but professionalism, medical knowledge, friendliness, timeliness, comfort and efficiency. All aspects of this medical experience flowed smoothly, and the patient was in and out in a timely manner. Updated from 4 to 5 stars! Post procedure nursing care was exceptional. (I was not allowed for pre procedure care). Only thing I noted was the patient who I accompanied was never listed on the digital waiting room monitor, but the procedure was fast. Great care received."
"I had eye surgery and had 100 questions. Everyone was very nice and answered each one with out getting short or aggravated. From the front desk to the CNA ( I think that’s what I remember her saying she was) who wheeled me to the car I got treated with respect and I felt like I was important. Rooms was nice and clean and private. I would love to know the nurses names that took care of me before and after because they were great and need to be recognized."
