"This place has nothing to do with the Tinder dating app; it's named for the car behind steam locomotives carrying fuel and water, more commonly known as a tender. It's a nod to its railroad-adjacent locale. The short walk between the Tinder Guest House and the Amtrak station negate the need for automobiles to travel between the two. The purpose of our stay was to watch trains, so we didn't need to travel beyond downtown. Downtown Ashland has everything you need to watch trains: outdoor seating at numerous and excellent restaurants, two tracks with frequent trains passing by at a modest speed (I believe 30 MPH), a model train store, and of course, the Tinder Guest House, with an unobstructed trackside view from the front room. I give the establishment a 4.99 out of five stars. That 0.01 remainder stems from two aspects: the bathroom is shared with another individual. It was never clarified if it was a guest or a permanent resident. The second aspect is that the bedroom rumbles when trains pass by. It's very subtle, but a light sleeper may not consider it a restful experience."
"This was such a fun place to stay--comfortable suite of rooms in a classic old building with all the modern updates. Sharon really cares about the guest house, she's enthusiastic about Ashland and she takes good care of her guests. We loved the two front rooms that overlooked the railroad tracks and the main street downtown. Just a perfect place to stay in a great little town."
"We enjoyed our stay, and look forward to another trip to Ashland in the future. The room was clean and comfortable with cool AC, comfortable bed, and a very clean bathroom. The cookies, apple turnovers, and muffins were delicious, and we loved having the coffee maker for tea and coffee. Ashland is a wonderful place to be with lots of places to view the trains, and many outstanding dining options. We enjoyed dinner at Iron House and The Caboose Market, and brunch while waiting for our train at the Henry Clay Inn. If you are there on a Friday or Saturday you have to get a pot pie from Ashland Pot Pie they are outstanding!"
"We loved our stay at the Tinder Guest House! The house is so cute and quaint, our bed and pillows were super comfortable, and we loved the sitting room to read and watch for the trains which come often and are not too loud. Everything at the house was clean and neat with coffee, juices and water readily available in the room, and Sharon brought us fresh delicious muffins & cookies. We will definitely stay again if in the area or make a special trip. Very satisfied and refreshed from a relaxing stay, great walks with sidewalks and trails, and beautiful houses along the sidewalks. The town feels friendly and welcoming."
"I had a GREAT stay at the Tinder Guest House. Ashland is a really cute/nice little town and the location couldn't have been better. It was walking distance to several nice restaurants, people were friendly, and I even spent some time in the library right across the street. The house itself was very quiet and private with multiple rooms. I was able to sit in one room and work using Guest House wifi on two of the days I was there. Sharon stayed in touch leading up to my arrival and even met me in person after I got off the train. There was water, cookies and a yummy apple turnover waiting for me when I arrived, plus a coffee maker, frig and microwave, all of which I made use of. I'd stay there again in a heartbeat!"
