"Quite a ride on the trails by bike. Some of the horse trails need bridge repairs or replaced."
"Things have changed since we have been here last. The National Park visitors center used to be in the Tredegar Iron Works building. That is no longer the case. There is now a small visitors contact station where you can get information about all of the battlefield sites and then a museum adjacent to that. We did stop at the contact station to get out park stamps but did not get to go to this museum, instead we went over to Appomattox. We were disappointed to not be able to go into the Iron Works but look forward to going into the museum when we go back. All of the sites in Richmond Battlefield are well worth seeing."
"They have the junior ranger badge here which was a fun way to explore and learn about the history of this battlefield park."
"This is a very congested and busy area with paid parking. The visitor center is located far from Battlefield sites, but you can speak with a ranger and get a map."
"One of the best national Civil War battlefields in the East. The NPS has a visitors center in the historic Tredegar building that was used to make ammunition for the confederate state during the Civil War. There is a museum that accompanies the visitors center that tells the history of Richmond and the surrounding area before, during, and after the Civil War. The museum has treasured photos of the destruction of Richmond and maps that give a time period marking all events from 1861-1865. The museum is free to all and parking is available right next door."
