Red Roof Inn Newport News - Yorktown

"I check into my room. No issues. Later I notice my heat did not work. I use the room phone to call front desk but the phone does not work so I call on my cell phone. Someone picks up. I say my heat is not working. The person hung up the phone on me. So I inconvently get dressed and go to the office and say I was hung up on. The man proceeds to call my lier and raised his voice to me ....a women unprovoked. I then ask about a refund because they tend to be mean and rude. The man then tells me no refund until I get my stuff and leave the room. Was not risking that for that I'm homeless. I proceed to get ahead of the situation and call the police. They worked it out for someone to come check my heat. They come and get my heat to work. Im writing this review at 4 am because I wake up to a freezing cold room. It's blowing cold air out. I paid all that money to stay warm from the cold only to spend my last to be cold. Calling corporate in the morning and requesting a full refund. I did not appreciate being yelled at and being called a lier when I said I was hung up on. The man kept yelling at me over the phone situation and I'm sure he is the hung up me kept yelling about he has cameras well good show corporate how you was yelling at me while I was respectful and calm."

"Stayed for 2 nights never stayed at a red roof in so I'm trying to be as polite as possible since I've never had any previous stays. First and foremost I hope all locations aren't like the one in Yorktown. Upon arrival front desk was nice however entering building horrible. Terrible odor no breakfast for price. I hoped and prayed room wasn't bad and it wasn't until we started seeing roaches and room smelled of cigarettes. Also fridge was dirty and non working that was room 325 moved to 319 same smoke smell big room but again roaches and hallways looked terrible. I wouldn't stay again. I apologize for bad review but desperately needs renovations."

"Paid for a room through Hotwire. Got to the hotel around 11:30pm. No one was at the front desk. Called the hotel number and a guy said he was on his way over. He came from the neighboring hotel. Went to the room and as soon as you open the door it reeked of cigarette smoke. We tried to ignore it and went to sleep because we were exhausted. Woke up around 5:30/6 am to use the bathroom and saw bugs everywhere. Roaches, beetles, spiders and others I can’t name. Turned the lights on in the room and they were all over the place. Not to mention blood stain on the floor. We gathered our things and left immediately. We went to the the front desk and again, no one to be found. Called the hotel number multiple times and no answer. We waited almost 30 minutes and I left the room key on the desk. Horrible service and even worse accommodations. Would not recommend this place to anyone."

"We got there late Saturday, check in was fine and the guy was helpful, we got the hotel same day so the price was like $137 which is not what this hotel is worth. We got in the elevator and saw it was gross, the hallway looked like a trap house, got in the room and the deadbolt was non existent, we had room 230 I think. The one mattress had stains on it and all the sheets and blankets had smalls stains of what seemed to be semen or blood. The room had a pungent moldy stench, the bathroom has marks all over the mirror and sink, doesn’t look like they really care about the people that stay there. 10/10 wouldn’t stay there again nor would I suggest anyone else to stay there"

"The guy at the front desk was great. First room had a bad mattress he put us in a different room with a very nice mattress. Location is good. Shower was good. Floor in room was dirty. Room had a smell like it had been a smoking room and they used some chemical to get rid of the smell. The hotel is now completely non smoking. New owners are improving the hotel as it goes. No breakfast. Paid $125 after big taxes."
