Diamonds and Dutch Pet Bath & Spa

"Today was my first visit to Diamonds and Dutch Pet Bath & Spa. I shared with the groomer that I didn't think I would be able to make it back right at 2pm because I was ending a meeting at that time, and I had to get my granddaughter off the bus at 2:30pm. She said that's fine. I will call to let you know when they are done. She also stated that she would allow the puppies to run around and play if there aren't any other puppies in the shop when she finished grooming them. I received a call at 1:48PM stating my puppies were done. I finished up with my meeting at 2pm, got my granddaughter off the bus at 2:24pm and at 2:53 pm I received a call from someone at the shop asking when I would arrive. I said my navigation shows I will be there at 2:59pm. (It takes more than 20 minutes to get from Chesterfield to Brookland Park.) She said, well, there will be a late fee because you said you would be here at 2:30pm. I said, fine, thank you for telling me in advance. The problem is that I wasn't told there would be a late fee in advance. It wasn't until the phone call at 2:53PM. Had I known that it would be a problem for me to pick them up an hour after they were done, I wouldn't have accepted the appointment. I have no complaints about the quality of the grooming, but I do have a problem with unprofessionalism. I was told the puppies grooming would be $75 to $85 each. I paid $207 total to have my 2 Cavapoos groomed + a late fee. Which is less than what I would normally pay for grooming + tip, because I believe in paying my groomer a fair tip for grooming 2 puppies. I did NOT leave a tip today because of the unprofessional service. I will not be returning to this company, even though I am happy with how well my puppies were groomed. I was definitely hoping to find a permanent or backup groomer, but I don't think this company will be my first choice. I will gladly wait for my groomer to get well or try another company before I return to this establishment. In Response to the Owner: Point proven, very unprofessional, to start a response, "Ma'am for starters". Also, your response regarding us parting ways is unnecessary because I made it clear in my first review that I wouldn't be returning. In response to your comments. I am unsure if you or someone else from your company called me at 2:53, but I was told by the person that called me that I was being charged a late fee. Check your camera footage. Also, if my navigation said I would arrive at 2:59 how could I park and get inside prior to 3PM. Of course, I walked in after 3PM. Also, first I am hearing about the same day fee and the waiver of the fee. You told me you had a cancellation so I could bring the puppies in. I don't have a problem with paying fees. I just feel you should explain to customers that there are fees for taking more than a certain amount of time to arrive after the groomer calls. Also, when I arrived my dogs were not barking but like many dogs, they will bark when they see other dogs, so I won't say they weren't barking prior to my arrival. Your response has given me a lot of insight. My barking dogs triggered the call to ask when I would be picking them up. Now that I have mentioned the late charge in my review, you tell me that I was charged additional fees because of the mats. Well, I shared on the phone that there was some matting. You now break down the charges in your response to my review, how convenient. My advice to you, explain the late fees upfront. Communicate to your employees what your expectations are so that you are all on the same page, because the groomer was okay with me being late. Also, when I arrived you didn't share with me how they behaved. I am sure you have camera footage of your groomer stating how good they were being. I actually made the comment that was for the moment because I know they bark at other dogs. They don't normally bark while in the crate, but we also don't have a spa at home with other dogs visiting. We can agree to disagree. I wish you well with your business."

"This place was absolutely amazing! The service was great and the hair cut on my puppy was as cute as can be! The only thing I could say is the price of the haircut was a little high. I paid $82 for a haircut for a 7 pound puppy. That is more than I pay for my 80 pound golden doodle at places."

"UPDATE: You can now book grooming appointments through the website. Must book at least two weeks out. Original: I brought my dog here for a grooming appointment. I thought it was for a haircut but it was just for a bath. Be mindful that if you want both, not to book through their website or Instagram. You have to find the groomer contacts on their website to book with them directly. That said, Lucy got a bath and blowout and smelled sooooo good after. Two days later and she still smells good. She also got a cute bandana. It's a private appointment so Lucy had just one person working on her the full time. The place was quiet as there was no one there doing self-serve either (A family had just left.) While I waited, I went to the ice cream shop across the street. Much recommended as well. I will be bringing Lucy back for more baths for sure (and not just so I have an excuse to get ice cream)."

"Minority/women owned business so PLEASE support... the place is very clean and inviting. I called desperate to have my dog cleaned and she was able to fit me in same day. (I can't guarantee she can do that all the time so please call for appointment). She has both self clean and professional grooming on site. Our groomer was Mya. She was very sweet and took care of furbaby even though she does not like to have her face done. I really appreciated the time she took making sure she was perfect before we left. Mya even gave us a coupon to use for our next visit which is already booked in August. They also offer memberships so I am going to look at taking advantage of that as well. Highly recommended."
