"Wonderful variety and very well organized. They have just everything that you could imagine for both indoor and outdoor spaces, as well as a good selection of local merchandise. It would be hard to find another venue which provides the acres of plants, shrubs, and trees that this place provides. Want mulch and stone. Check Want a koi pond or bubbler. Done. Want a local wine and a new hat. They have you covered. They are a bit pricey for what you get, however they do allow for you to really pick out a specific variety of plant, where the box stores provide more general plant categories."

"Possibly the best plant store in the DMV. Honestly I’m only there for the houseplants but they have multiple massive glass(!!) greenhouses with outdoor and indoor plants. They also have a little cafe. Plant prices are reasonable and selection is excellent. I also recommend looking at their pots and saucers, they have a great selection of high quality supplies."

"Anything garden related and so much more can be found here. If you’re looking to put together a gift basket, they can help. Sprucing up the garden with annuals and perennials - they have the largest selection and offer expert advice for free. Went to get some azalea bushes to place around the bird bath and one of their garden experts found me looking and ascertained my needs and then directed me to the best options. Unlike other places where you have to actively hunt for help, the friendly employees here make it their mission to be as helpful as possible."

"One of the very best garden centres I’ve ever been to. The selection is truly outstanding, the best I’ve seen, and it’s always clean and the staff are always friendly. If you’re looking for a good houseplant, a good tree for your yard, or any other perennial or annual for your garden, this is the place for you. They also have many different types of mulch, landscaping rocks and statues, and other elements that are part of a garden. I haven’t used any of their services, but I have heard good things. The inside includes a cafe with some home furnishings, wines, and jams of sorts. I debated giving five stars vs. four, but being in horticulture myself and seeing many of the other reviews, I will say that prices tend to lean a bit towards the expensive side with many things here. I understand that they have to make money, and I’m unsure if the size of Merrifield Gardens is why they charge so much, but I know I’ve decided not to buy many things because I feel like they’re overpriced. They say they’re competitively priced, and not taking into account Home Depot and Walmart who can keep their prices very low, I haven’t seen another garden centre who’s prices are really overall close to theirs. Some plants that are sold that were purchased from other nurseries such as lemon trees from FL, had the same price across multiple nurseries in the area. That being said, it helps to be somewhat aware of what a good deal on certain types of plants are before going in. Even so, definitely worth a visit anytime of the year, because the selection is second to none."
