Reviews of Rooster's Wood-fired Kitchen - Uptown
"Multilevel restaurant tucked in BOA! We sat near the open kitchen and it was great. You could see the items being made and the hustle and bustle of the kitchen. It's dimly lit, so it gives warm and cozy vibes. We I didn't know it was an a-la-cart menu till we got there. So check the full menu when before you go! There's not a huge California wine selection; it's more international with France/Italy/Argentina leading the way. I kept it simple with a smooth Rosé (Faísom) from France. We had the Potato Gnocchi with Braised Beef in a tomato sauce. Thie didn't need sides. It came as a whole meal unto itself. The Gnocchi were tender and not gummy, the meat robust as it was Sous vide. The herb marinated shrimp, Calabrian Chili Butter, was delectable. The pan-fried corn had a nice crisp bite, well seasoned and buttery. I didn't care gor the Brussels Sprouts. I was hoping they were good as it was they're halved/grilled and loaded with Bacon, Cashews, Provolone, and a Sherry Vinegar. They feel flat. They needed a sauce or drizzle of balsamic and seasoning. Now, the Mac-n-Cheese was hitting. They add goat milk, which elevated the flavor. It does provide a slight tang. I would have never thought to add that. There's a traditional cheese crust and absolutely no breadcrumbs ( Thanks). We rounded it off with the Spiced cheesecake with praline topping and fresh whipped cream. It was a delectable and delicious dinner with great service"
"Pros: The restaurant shares the Bank of America parking garage #1, food and ingredients are fresh, two levels with booths large enough for six people. On the second floor, guests can observe the cooks. Serves is fast and servers are polite. Get the salmon dish, sweet potato, potatoes au gratin, and pan fried corn - excellent! Cons: A little pricey, roasted chicken lacks roasted flavor, pecan cheesecake dry and thick. All sides are add-ons (a la carte ) so, the value versus price is "low" mark, inadequate."
"I went here after work to try something different. I didn't have a reservation, but I was seated. The atmosphere was nice. Service was great. Food was delicious. The short ribs was very tender. It it pricey, thus the description "upscale". I would recommend it for special occasions, but definitely not for a causal outing."
"Let's start with the negatives....there are none....this place was spot on, had a few items never would've had, amazing, the buffalo chicken skins, was one of them. Recommended items: buffalo chicken skins, potato gnocchi with chicken, butternut squash and cabbage all mixed into a bowl, the scallops, and fingerling purple potatoes. There was a chef checking all food prior to going out. Service was spot on, they even validated our parking ticket."
"Great service, atmosphere was chill, and food was delicious. Brussel sprout appetizer was delish! Wood fired pizza, best cheese! The entrees were both great too. I enjoyed our waiter and even the hostess was on point!! Recommend all around! Love a place with all the good vibes and smiles!"
